I don't know if this is where this should go but this is the best location I found. I have a few questions, I am getting the P-7811FX (ordered already) and I am worried about the threat of it being stolen. So I am wondering if Lojack is a good solution. Well I know it is but I mean if I am outside of the US and it is stolen, say in the Caribbean, like in Barbados (where I live). If it is stolen in here would it still be traceable? I know it works on I.P but would Lojack still work with law enforcement in Barbados? Or would it be a lost cause?

My next question is does the P-7811FX support the LojackBIOS agent? I see that Gateway is listed on their site but it doesnt have the P-7811FX model.

P.S - I intend to buy the laptop as a U.S person...and then use it here...once it can work.

    Thanks for your assistance.

    For the first question:

Lojack will try to search all over the world for your laptop, HOWEVER, there are no guarantees if the laptop is out of its Theft Recovery Territory. Basically, if it goes outside the territory it's probably gone.

Go to the "How it Works" section and check out the pdf under the first point for more information. Lojack's Theft Recovery Territory includes the US, Canada, UK, and Australia.

For the second question: If it says Gateway and it doesn't list any specific Gateway models, then it's probably a safe bet that it's compatible.

I don't think it's worth it because your home doesn't fall into their Theft Recovery Territory. If you plan on living within the territory, then it might be a good idea.

I'm currently living in Ireland and asked them about this. The response was that they do not guarantee theft recovery outside of the listed countries. I decided that it wasn't worth it but I will most likely buy it when I move back to Canada.
