I recently decided to buy new speakers, I've had old logitech x530 and ran great. Now I'm looking for some premium/better audio. My budget is $140 and no more at all.

I really liked Bose Companion 3 Series II that seems to be my last option if I can't find anything. Everywhere I go people say bose are overpriced etc etc I almost bought Klipsch ProMedia 2.1, was looking around ebay but couldn't find anything brand new sealed, it was all open box  If I can find a good deal on the Klipsch I'd get those without a doubt.

Do you guys have any suggestions for that price and that's better than the bose?

I definitely recommend saving up the extra $20 and going with the Klipsch. I've heard a lot of speakers, and those are about as good as they get.

Try to find a pair of Audioengine's to listen to. Otherwise, keep looking for those Klipsch. IMO definitely worth it. Don't bother with the Z2300 or even Z5300. You have the right idea that a good pair of stereo speakers are much better than an equivalent priced surround sound set though.

Yeah I just left Logitech out of the option :) My only concern with the Klipsch promedia is that they were released back in 2000, 11 years hah is there anything new that's better than this?

Nope, I have two sets of them (one at home, one in college...mostly because it costs like $30 to ship them cross-country), and nothing compares. Speaker tech hasn't improved much at all over the last 10 years, and the fact that the Klipsch were designed that long ago means that they still have good build quality (IE: are actually made with decent metal)

Got it I'll stick to those then. Last problem; I can't find these anywhere brand new and sealed for less than 140, I've found threads at places for about 110 but bestbuy now has it for 155. Ebay every new listing is open box, I'd like to get one sealed if you guys have any links that would be great :)

    Thanks for all the help

Yep, speaker technology hasn't changed over the years much. For example, a really awesome company that I use for my home theatre is Magnepan. They release a new speaker every 10+ years only if the majority of blind testers (audiophiles and normal consumers) can hear a noticeable difference in sound quality.

Another vote for the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 from me. Very good speakers. I also have the Z-2300 which are pretty good. I'd say you can't go wrong with either of them.

Heres my experiences with 2.1 speakers:

Logitech z623 - Never tried but read this
Logitech z2300 - Excellent overpowering bass
    Logitech z4 - cheaper/weaker version of the z2300
Altec Lansing Expressionist Ultra MX6021 - Disappointing subwoofer bass
Creative Gigaworks T3 80W - Very weak bass but better quality than Altec

^ you must really love bass...

Compared to many many smaller systems that the mainstream us ie. z323/523, all of the above have decent bass

Compared with the monitor speakers everyone talks about ie. AV40/T40, these have incredible bass.

I think it all depends on the kind of music you listen to.
