After being out of college for 15 years (yikes!) I am going back to get retrained (if that's possible) from automotive engineering to IT.

I'd like to get a good backpack to house my new Lenovo U330 13" notebook with power cord and mouse along with several textbooks, notepads, and writing utensils (and maybe even some eating utensils - lol).

I don't want to spend much, preferably under $50, but I'm open if it's a good quality and has all the padding and pockets I need.

BTW I live in the USA so either a local store or online. Would prefer to be able to see it in person before I buy.

    Thanks!

Well I don't know what the pricing is like in the US but you could look at the STM Small Evolution - I used to have one a while ago and it has an excellent storage location for the notebook which makes it totally separate from the rest of the bag (as well as awesome protection) and more than enough room for text books.

Oh don't worry about having been out of 'school' for 15 years - I am in the same boat at Uni myself this year (going from Aero Eng to Software Eng :p ) - I am old enough to be the mother of some of my classmates lol

thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into that.

And yeah, I feel like an old man. However there's actually quite a few other people there my age or older, mainly due to the crappy state of the economy in Detroit...

I have the Swissgear Juilett (i believe) 15" backpack for my 13" laptop (dell provides a sleeve... total size fits just right(

make sure there's a lot of padding... if you use the backpack right, (put the bag on and tighten the straps the most, you won't feel the weight at all (4+ pound laptop + 4 college books + notebook)
