Well, I just received my Inspiron 9300 last night and I must say I'm very happy aside from the amount of bloatware, and some backlight leakage that I'm still debating contacting Dell over (WUXGA tru-bright screen).

Now, the next item on my list is a carrying case. I've been looking for two and a half weeks with limited results.

Since the notebook isn't very light, I'm looking for a thin/compact case. I don't expect to need to carry much more than the notebook, power cord, RJ-45/RJ-11 cable, and maybe a couple of CD's.

I've found this Case Logic Slimline Koskin case, and like it. However, the only review of it I've found (for a 17") states it will fit, but it's very tight.
I really like this case, but "cramming" a notebook into a "protective" case seems a bad idea to me... Does anyone out there know of a case like this one that better accomodates 17" notebooks? Or perhaps if you have this case, can you tell me how it fits a 17"?

Important aspects of case: (for other recommendations)
    Thin/Light
Padded (limited transporting.. doesn't have to be excessive)
Koskin/leather, (or perhaps higher quality nylon/neoprene/polyester etc?)
    NOT messenger/backpack style
Doesn't look like it belongs to a teenager
    < $55.00

thanks in advance for the help

Could the Kensington Contour Pro 17" bag be an option for you? Its like ~$50 on most online retailers and it seems to be rather light. It has a nice case within a case so on the go u can just carry the padded case within. I have yet to receive my case which I got free from Dell, but I will post feedback once I get it. Although disregard all this info if you don't like taking advice from a teenager (seeing as it will belong to a teenager....dont think it looks it though ;))

If you are looking for a case for the I9300, look online or at Circuit City I bought my Targus which is professional looking at Circuit City and it only cost $70. I looked at alot of other places and they say it fites the I9300, but doesn't. Choice is yours, just make sure you look at the comp compartment section online. Let me know what you decide, I would like to know what other cases will fit. There were only 2 at Circuit City that would fit mine.

I don't think so, I don't like the top loading style, hence no "messenger" bags. I don't know what the normal style is called- so unfortunately I can't be more descriptive. Also, the bag weighs nearly as much as my laptop (6.30lbs according to buy.com)

I didn't mean to imply that at all. I only wanted to say I don't want a "loud" case, but prefer something more conservative/refined/elegant etc. (no red/yellow color schemes) I have no problems admitting a younger person can know a lot more than me on a subject. :p
