    Hi there,

I'm finally posting here to ask for help with a PCMCIA dummy card. Called Averatec and their sales staff have no clue what PCMCIA or PCCard is, much less a dummy card.

I only found one online store selling the plastic dummy card for $4~$5 ... but shipping is like $8~$9!

Wondering if anyone know of an online store that sells them at a good price. Thanks!

Someone once posted a link to some little tray that slides into the PCMCIA slot and can be used to store a couple of folded bills, etc. Don't know if that's what you mean.

By the way, I believe they had it at CompUSA for $10-20.

You also might try going to some local computer repairshops. I work in one and we occasionally have those lying around, for exaple if we've recently installed a PCMCIA Wireless card for a customer. We'd give one away, if we had one, most likely.

    Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. Any chance there are spares laying around? ;)

I'm resorting to slotting in a pccard with a dummy sd card. It don't seem to suck power that way. But a dummy pccard would be great!

Thanks for all the info and appreciate if anything comes by. :)

The PCMCIA card is universal, no matter what company makes it, so the reader or holder of the card must be a universal size. You might want to contact dell up. It is likely that would sell a dummy card as a part as dummy cards come with dell notebooks, slotted into the PC card holders.
