I am looking for some kind of table to keep my laptop on while I am using it in the recliner or couch. I have been keeping it on my lap but it gets so dang hot I am worried that I could do some damage to it in the future. What do you guys use? I was thinking of a tablemate (yeah one of those things from the TV ads a few years back)..

There are quite a few notebook stands. Targus makes a decent one. The Logitech Alto comes to mind as well, although it also includes a keyboard.

I was thinking about something like that.... I used to have a "drawing station" when I was younger to draw while on the couch. I was basicaly a wooden plank with a pillow-like attached under it. You'd just need to add some sort of anti slip or rubber material to make sure the laptop stays on it. You could make this setup at home for like 10$

Yeah I tried a small piece of counter top but I didn't like the position it put my arms in- they tended to fall asleep....

had the same problem mudpuppy. You'll worry about burning more private parts before the furniture. I solved the problem using the first metal notebook pad with usb fans I found on sale. A bit cooler & much faster. Before the same notebook heated once too often, I layered towels around ice in the summer. Cooled everything down & couldn't believe how fast the notebook worked. Like doubling the ram. boards & trays will heat it up more. Must be an older notebook without fans? rafdo

Ikea sell a laptop table that has a cushion on the bottom of it and is large enough to sit a 17" notebook on it. Priced at £6.99 it looked good!
