I've kind of narrowed my search down to 3 similarly sized and priced cases but I was wondering if anyone else has gotten these or knows of another brand I can look at. Will be for the 17.3" MSI GT73VR Titan, a headset, mouse, and a single power brick.

I won't be taking it on a plane or anything but I would like my investment to have better protection when I move it around than just a bag.

Pelicans are good cases but aren't exactly made for laptops. You would have to cut out and modify your own foam inserts for proper padding because you don't want the laptop to be unsecured.
The first one looks like what you would want to buy, especially since there is already user feedback from people carrying laptops in there. Having foam already designed for a laptop is a big deal.

True. CaseMatix actually sells a laptop line for gaming laptops, and advertises it as such. It was the first non-Pelican that I found and have had it on my wishlist ever since. I have a lot of old laptops lying around that I've either tinkered with, repaired or gotten parts off of. Lots of them came with bags of various size, but nothing I have will hold this Titan - not even my nice Dell 17" case that held my old laptop. Besides, I like the idea of all that foam around it anyway so I'm kinda glad my old bags don't fit.

My Case arrived. I ended up getting a Pelican 1600. The Casematix was in the lead until after the holidays and the price shot way up beyond the others, so I got a Pelican that was a little bigger than what I needed just to be sure there was plenty of extra padding. The foam that came with it was pre-cut cubed pick & pluck, and it worked out just fine. The bottom layer is an inch of foam and the second and third layers are 2.5 inch cubed, and then the lid has its own foam. I cut the lower 2.5" layer to fit the laptop snugly, then cut out the upper layer to fit the charger, headphones, external drive, cables and mouse. Then I used Super 77 spray adhesive to glue the bottom layer to the lower layer, so the laptop's surround foam wouldn't move at all. All the cutouts I made in the upper layer don't go all the way through to reach the laptop. The deepest cut still leaves about an inch between. I plucked out the shapes through the entire layer and then sliced them down vertically to where I needed, then placed the remaining foam back into the cutouts. After that I took out the upper layer, flipped it over, sprayed the adhesive all over the bottom of the foam and a piece of cardboard that I cut out of the Pelican box, and stuck the two together for extra support. I also picked up some red handles and latches and changed out the black ones, so my case is red and black. I'll be getting a large dragon sticker for the front of the case.

Thanks! It turned out to be everything I wanted. It's pretty heavy, though. I need to weigh it but I think it's 20 - 25 pounds full. The sticker came in yesterday and I put it on today. It's very nicely made. Got it from a seller on Ebay who makes his own designs - this one was $8.50 for a 4.5" x 3.75" version. The case was $159 on Amazon and the red handle and latches were $22 on Amazon. You can also buy replacement foam if you ever need to change up the contents.

Agreed. For what you pay for these laptops it should be something like this. Some resellers have upgraded shipping options and even wooden crates, but that's just for shipping. I needed something to haul mine around in that was better than the thin box that it came in with the little plastic handle. There was no fitting it in "regular" 17" laptop bag, so I figured why not get something that was as nice as what would be riding inside? Pelicans come with a lifetime warranty so it should last me through whatever computer I use from now on.

That is what I was thinking too. For what they cost, packing them in this should be included but more than likely it'll a $150 option soon. :p
