Hi all, I recently got a Eurocom M4, and am looking for a suitable backpack for using it in conjunction with school (lots of heavy books). This laptop is amazing, but the lid is quite flimsy and would break very easily if some books were on it. I'm looking for a good laptop backpack, that will fit my 13.3" Laptop, but has a stiff, or rigid compartment for the laptop, so my books won't crush my precious. Does anyone have any suggestions?
I saw this case: Amazon.com: Pelican U100 Black Elite Storage Backpack for Laptop (OU1000-0003-110): Computers & Accessories
Its close to what I am looking for, but rather expensive.

I use this, it has a great sleeve built-in for the laptop :)

and it is places nicely against your back, so the weight is balanced :)

I'd suggest any 17" laptop bagpack will be perfect for you.. Your'e laptop will easily fit in the compartment and you'll have plenty of space for books.. Look at the Asus ROG or Alienware Vindicator bagpacks...

How many books do you need to carry? I've been traveling with backpacks/messenger bags for years and have never seen a need for rigid cases for everyday usage. Heck, a normal backpack + decent notebook sleeve will do the job just fine. I'd be more concern about a backpack that can comfortable handle the weight/size of the books you have to carry, your back cost will cost a lot more to fix than your laptop. :p

Agreed, personally, I am very happy with my Everki backpack. It was expensive, but it has lasted for 3 years with only minor wear and tear, has protected my electronics well, has some room for other stuff too. It is no hiking backpack in the sense, that a good hiking backpack will have better ergonomic design. All you need afterwards is a sleeve for the laptop and you could also use that backpack for when you decide to go on trips or something.

If you have the money for it, spending more on a good backpack that will last longer would be better than spending on a cheap one that will die within a year.

Deuter Giga Office Pro.. has decent shoulder strap than can take quite an abuse for the price.
