I'm looking for a laptop bag.. either backpack or messenger bag.. that will comfortably carry and protect 2-3 laptops. I currently carry an Alienware m15x and a Google Cr-48 to work everyday and occasionally carry a Toshiba netbook as well.

Requirements I have are extreme durability (my current laptop bag is made from 1680D Ballistic Nylon), dedicated room/pouches for 2-3 laptops, and room for a bunch of gear. I carry screw drivers, multitools, a CD case, a laptop cooler, 1-2 mice, headphones, an external hard drive, and other gear with me everyday to work (I'm a computer technician). My current laptop bag is awesome, but it only has one padded pouch for a laptop and I'm worried about damaging one of my other laptops putting them in the main compartment with various other items.

The Orion Messenger Bag is nice and is designed to fit 2 laptops, but I'm looking to see what other bags are out there that can meet my requirements.

    I appreciate any help!

Yea I really can't say enough great things about my current Alienware backpack. I've put that bag through stresses that it was definitely not designed to handle and, after 5 years, it still looks brand new. No stretched seams, no frayed ends... its truly been amazing. I just wish it had more room for gear and 2 laptops.

That bag looks awesome, although it doesn't appear to have protected space for more than 1 laptop.

    Inadvisable.

Even if there was a case/pack made strong enough to hold the weight, your back would not survive long under that stress--not unless of course you've got the build of a silverback?

Anyway, I advise carrying only one laptop per case, since it's safer that way. Otherwise, they would have to be cushioned from one another making the pack even more cumbersome.

On the other hand, if you're referring to a thin-and-light, netbook or an ultraportable, then those would probable be small enough to be exceptions to the rule. Still, I like the added security of keeping valuable and fragile items like these separate. But that decisions is up to you.

Incidentally, I tried carrying two notebooks once and the pain from the straps became excruciation after just a few minutes. It was like two meat hooks cutting into my clavicle. Granted, they were old heavy Dells circa 2002. But I can't imagine ever doing that again without some kind of well constructed heavily padded harness backpack. If one exists for such a purpose (without costing a fortune), I'd be anxious to know about it as well.

I currently carry them everyday in my Alienware bag. One is a relatively heavy Alienware m15x.. the other is a very light Google Cr-48. Together they are still considerably lighter than a lot of 17" laptops so weight is not an issue. Even with the Toshiba in the mix they are probably still lighter than some 17" laptops.

If you are considering the Orion, I'd like to suggest the astro scout, it has one large padded area along with the open space in the main compartment which is also very padded, see link in sig. :D

Yea I read your review yesterday shortly before you posted that.. I like that bag..

I'm not ruling out any bag, but I'm really hoping to find a bag thats specifically designed to hold 2 laptops and specifically has 2 padded pockets for them. Maybe this bag doesn't exist..

If you can't find one you could always get a sleeve for the one not in the padded compartment.

Yea, thats actually the setup I'm using right now. I have a neoprene sleeve I got at Target for my Cr-48.

looks like large backpack + sleeve is the way to go.
