I have a 16" XPS Studio 16 laptop. Right now I am using:

    http://www.ebags.com/ebags/macroloader_laptop_backpack/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=59045

And I love it. The problem with it is, previously I had a 17" Vostro 1700 and couldn't fit the laptop in the compartment and so I unthinkingly tossed out some of the pads that go in the compartment. Now I have a smaller laptop and don't want it rocking around in there, and went to their site...seems they don't make the bag in all black anymore.

Being in the Army, I can't carry a bag that isn't all black (technically) but I can get away with black/gray (especially if it's a dark gray).

I've been searching for similar bags that have a dedicated space (not just a pocket with a velcro flap on the top with most of the laptop exposed). The reason I want a dedicated compartment is because due to traveling a lot, the laptop often has a bunch of junk in it and laying down in the overhead bins on planes, stuff moves around, and I don't want the stuff banging up against the top of the laptop and/or falling into the laptop compartment.

    What suggestions do you have?

Here is one for you that might work well..It's dark black w/some gray sheen to it:
There are many *dedicated* compartments on this backpack.
