    You can spend HOURS doing research on this. But after all of those hours, your short list will come down to two options:
    * Logitech G500
    * Razer DeathAdder

    Personally, I like a Logitech G500 more than Razer's mouse. But other people have the opposite opinion. In the end, you'll be happy with either one (it's like choosing between Mercedes Benz vs BMW). If you really can't decide, flip a coin :).

    G500? no. G400 is the way to go, best sensor (optical). no known issues, great ergonomics, dpi on the fly.

    Sigh... the G500 has on the fly DPI adjustments too. Basically the only difference is laser versus led. And the shape.

    I'll vouch for the DeathAdder. 5 buttons, very comfortable shape, 3,500 DPI optical sensor with very high perfect control speed, $45 on Amazon. Definitely my favorite mouse.

    Apparently the G500 has an issue with mouse acceleration; people say it cannot be completely disabled. The G400 is a perfectly viable option though. It doesn't seem to have this issue.

    The 400 is cheaper, yes. The debate between laser and optical is not definitively one way or the other.

    I think it's obvious that it's a matter of opinion. OP, I recommend trying to find a store nearby that sells a range of gaming mice and has them on display and just seeing how each one feels in your hand and how they move.

    I have a G500 and a G400. As far as games go, I really can't tell the difference. The G500 is a nicer mouse though; it has a lot more options and features.

    As you can probably tell from everyone responses the two mice recommended will be perfect regardless of which one you choose. You will like the features of the one you buy and won't miss the features that the other has...

    I was in the same boat and ended up going deathadder simply because it seemed to fit my hand better. That being said, probably would have been happy with the G500. Go get those mice in your hand!
