Hello!!! I am looking for a good and preferably not very expensive hard drive enclosure. I will use it with two hard drives and will constantly be swaping them, therefore, the enclosure will have to be one that will allow me to plug and unplug my hard drives with ease. Is there such a thing or are they mostly made for you to plug a hard drive in and leave it in the enclosure? If it's imposible to do what I want with one enclosure, I would buy two. Thank you.

Are these notebook or desktop drives?

if it's IDE, you can get a usb adapter that just plugs into the back of the hd straight to USB 2.0 without an enclosure.

These are desktop (3.5 IDE) drives that I would want to connect externally to my notebook. (to everyone) Yeah, but wouldn't the drive get hot like that? and also it would probably get kind of dusty laying around without one, don't you think? (to kidA)

I actually use one of those "caseless" usb to ide adapters. You have to be careful when using them that the underside of the drive doesn't get shorted and you should have some space below it to permit airflow. I made a sort of bottom protector out of the same clear plastic the drive came in and it wraps around the side where it is screwed on. It provides about 1/8th inch of space below for the drive.

The Vantec NextStar is pretty good and has been getting pretty good reviews.
