I've been looking around for a good gaming/movie headset and so far have come up with getting the Skullcandy Aviator Black Headphone with Mic (150 USD, which is my budget). What's your take on this headset? Is there anything that is consistently bad about this headset? Is there something similar (on/over ear) that is better with the same price or cheaper? Plan on using a Dell gift card for it so options are limited by whats on their site along with having to have a mic built in and will only be for my pc.

Here's the skullcandy headset and also a quicker way to glimpse what else is on the dell site.

    Much appreciated for the help.

Audiophiles will definitely disagree with your choice. There are much better options for the same price, or even less.

For that price, you can get some really, really good headsets. Not only will they help you with gaming (big soundstage), but they also have really good sound quality for listening to music. I suggest you read through this thread: Mad Lust Envy's Headphone Gaming Guide: (Updated: 7/28/2012: External microphone section added)

There are more good headsets than those, but it's a start. I would look for a mix between "fun" and "competitive". Fun being good sound quality, competitive being big soundstage, but usually less bass (because bass won't help with games). Everyone seems to love the Sennheiser PC 360, and it perfectly fits in your price range!

As nice as a lot of those are I'm using a Dell gift card for the headset so my selection is limited to what's on the dell website. =oP

How would you rate the logitech g35s or f540s over the skullcandy aviator w/mic?

Anyone know how comfortable either are over an extended period of time? How well the sound is?

Though the f40s seem to be just for xbox or ps3 I've heard that people can use the ps3 usb on a win. 7 pc.
