I am looking for a mouse that is good at tracking on a wide variety of surfaces/can be used anywhere as I am often stuck in places like cars for extended periods of time where there is no dedicated table/desk-like surface. I don't really game very much and my games don't require a high APM really, so the number of buttons or dpi are not huge concerns for me. Thanks for the suggestions.

Microsoft Mobile Mouse 6000 with bluetrack and Logitech MX Anywhere Mouse with darkfield. They'll run on anything, even glass has to be at least 4mm thick. They both have problems with the scroll wheel though.

What is the problem with the anywhere's scroll wheel? I have one and never noticed an issue.

Probably referring to the smooth scrolling wheels as opposed to ratcheted ones, I have both the Anywhere MX and Mobile Mouse 6000 but on the former you can pick between free scrolling and ratcheting for the mouse wheel, plus its fun to just flick the wheel and watch it spin endlessly :p

The Mobile Mouse 4000 is only smooth scrolling, but if you're a heavy user of it, the rubber will eventually deteriorate and it'll come off the wheel. or you'll get annoyed with it to the point where you'll want to take it off (I've had 2 4000's and the first one it came off by itself, the second one I took off myself, and the two are roughly the same). The wheels still work, but it's just plastic underneath your finger.

The Anywhere MX also doesn't have a "Middle Click" under the wheel, its a button below the wheel.

If you don't need to use it on glass, you don't really need any special mouse. I use my cheap Logitech M185 as my use anywhere on any surface (except glass) mouse.
