I am currently looking for a good quality speaker system for my laptop that I will be taking off to college. I don't really feel like spending more than $100. I was looking at ALTEC LANSING FX4021 PC Multimedia Speaker System off of the Dell website. They are going for $99. Looks like a great system. I want a system with a good bass but a bass that won't get me in trouble with others around me for I will be in a dorm room. And sound quality is also very important. I want it to be crisp and clear while holding a good level of bass as well. I am open to any helpful suggestions. Thanks in advance!![]()

If you are living in a dorm then I assume you want a 2.1 system?
A good one would be
Altec Lansing VS4221 2.1
Logitech Z-4i 2.1 40W Speaker System (includes wired remote)
both priced at around 85 dollars CAD after tax it'll be 96 - 100 -
klipsch promedia 2.1

It would be great if you could provide links wuzertheloser. Thanks.
And yes Murdoc, I am looking for a 2.1 system... Though it does not have to be a 2.1 system. Thanks for the two links above as well. I like the Altec one. -

Consider the Bose Companion 2. They offer excellent sound.

I just purchased the Altec Lansing FX4021. I find it to be a great system. I already have a Bose Companion 2 for my desktop. Though, I'm finding this Altec to produce better sound quality. Anyway, thanks for all the helpful suggestions all!

Bose are usually overpriced.
I've never heard of the FX4021, must be a newer thing. I have the Altec Lansing MX5021 and it's one of the better sets for the price range. -
