Hi guys,
I have a spare Maxtor HD (Diamondmax 10 200gb PATA). I'm looking to turn it into a portable external HD. Is there any good solution to this? I already have a WD My Book and I'm looking for something more portable and without an AC adapter.
Thanks!

Is the 200gb a 2.5" or 3.5" HD?

Sorry I left out that detail. It's a 3.5"

I doubt you'll be able to find a 3.5" enclosure that comes without an AC adapter as desktop hard drives requires more power than USB ports can provide in most cases.

What Providence! I just happen to be selling a 3.5" drive enclosure today: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2192375#post2192375
There's no such thing as a 3.5" drive enclosure that can be powered by a USB connection. Simply doesn't exist. 3.5" drives require far more power than a USB connection can supply. A firewire port can supply much more power than a USB port, and there may be bus-powered Firewire 3.5" enclosures although I've never seen one.
Looking for an external enclosure for my HD
