Is there any external laptop hard drive enclosure that comes with a write protect hardware switch, similar to the tab of a floppy disk?

Not as a hardware solution to my knowledge, although I'm sure there exists a software solution that may fit the bill. May I ask why you would need a write protect switch, other than the obvious of needing to write protect your data?

Files in your hard drive are subject to corruption and of course deletion. I don't always have the time or desire to back them up in an optical disc which would do the job and optical disc is limited to 50GB.
