Hello , I am leaving home this fall to attend college and must depart with my beloved Alienware gaming rig. I am looking for a mice to satisfy my gaming needs on my laptop but have a few questions/concerns.

    - Cordless or not?
Which is better for a laptop , a corded mice or a wireless one? I've heard that corded mice can drain laptop batteries , but wireless requires frequent recharge and lack of on/off button can exacerbate this.

    -Notebook mices
What exactly are the advantages of these mice? I have seen no significant features on these mice other than that they are small and dubbed 'notebook.' Yet these mice are quite pricy and seems to be like the low end two button mice.

    - Bluetooth mice
What is the difference between these mice and regular wireless mice? Pros and cons?

I currently have my eyes on these two mices , especially the Mx1000 since compusa seems to be offering a great deal on it.

    Logitech MX1000

    Logitech MX518

What are your thoughts on this? Thanks in advance.

I still use my old iFeel Mouse from Logitech. It's a force feedback mouse. Blowing away aliens in Unreal Tournament never felt so good.

From a gaming perspective, the Logitech laser mouse is the best way to go from what I can tell.

I have this same problem. I'm buying a DTR-notebook and I need the best mouse available. So my choice is pretty much between Logitech MX518 and MX1000. Now, MX1000 is the best all-purpose mouse, no question. But I think MX518 might be a bit better for purely gaming since Logitech has intended it to be used for gaming and it's also lighter in weight than MX1000 so you can move it easier.

Right now, my choice would probably be MX518 because it is lighter. Also, while I think corded mouse are a thing of the past, I think with a notebook a corded mouse is a good thing because firstly it is easier to take with, its batteries won't die out in the middle of gaming and I think the USB-male in corded mice takes a lot less space than the one in cordless mice (because of the extra wire that goes to the loading dock).

Don't get me wrong, in many tests in has been concluded that MX1000 is the best all-purpose mouse but it is probably the heaviest mouse. I currently use MX700 and it does feel a bit heavy although I haven't gamed with it yet.

One more thing: I dunno if you've heard about this but Logitech should be releasing a brand new G-series of gaming mice. MX518 is kinda a pre-model of this X-series. Maybe they will release a laser mouse for games, I dunno...

I purchased my laptop about two months ago, and I bought the Logitech MX518. This mouse is awesome. I had the cash for either the MX519 or the MX1000, but the 1000 was huge.

Could someone tell me from experience if there is a significant advantage in terms of precision that the MX1000 laser mouse have over other optical mouse?

Also I know that the MX1000 uses lithium ion batteries are these any better than regular AA batteries? How long can one use the mouse non-stop before recharging?

Personally I love my Cordless Logitech Trackball, but I've used trackball since I started using a PC, and find them vastly easier than mice.

nothing beats a stylus for sniping, but for those without tablets trackball is probably the fastest thing to use since lifting your hand and pushing the ball will be easier than lifting the mouse and scrolling with that.
