As the title says im looking for a gaming headset and mouse. The mouse should be in the 50$ range and headset 75$ range. Here is what im looking at so far

    Mouse
Amazon.com: Mionix Naos 3200 USB Wired LED-optical 3200 dpi Mouse: Electronics

Amazon.com: Razer Deathadder Infrared Gaming Mouse (RZ01-00151400-R3): Electronics

Amazon.com: Logitech G500 Programmable Gaming Mouse: Electronics

    Headset

Newegg.com - Corsair Vengeance 1300 3.5mm Connector Circumaural Analog Gaming Headset

Amazon.com: Razer Carcharias Gaming Headset (Black): Electronics

    Amazon.com: SteelSeries 5H V2 Gaming Headset - White (61009): Electronics

Id prefer to have a mouse that has wired mode because the batt always dies when you need it. Same with the headset. Although wireless is a plus too as long as it is both. I want the headset to be compatible with my xbox too so no usb :(.

Any recommendations on these or any other accessories that a college student would need for his laptop?

If you want the headset to work with your Xbox u get limited with choices. What about tutrtle beaches for headsets? I have an x12 tht is wired that I can use for both my laptop and Xbox. It's all wired though go to the tutrtle beach website and it should show you which ones can be played on Xbox and pc

Headset wise I'm not of very much assistance as I use a high end pair of sennheisers. However in relation to the mouse I would suggest the G500. I recently picked up the G700 for about $75 or so and have quickly grown fond of it.

Go with a Logitech G400 over a G500. The G400 is a better gaming mouse. The only positive things that the G500 has over the G400 are the free spinning scroll wheel, and saving the profiles onto the mouse (so you can use it anywhere and it be the same, or not use logitech's software and still have your settings). Everything else about the G500 is the same or worse.

I vote for the siberia V2. I got the PS3 version which work with pc/xbox/ps3 but that cost $120. The actual headset should be the same it just come with the extra usb adaptor. The headsets are very comfortable and mic is very clear only con that i have is that i want 7.1 audio.

The Siberia V2 is a nice headset, but don't expect premium sound from it.. The 5H V2 are way better :)

The difference is noticeable too, you won't regret it :D
