Ok here is the deal. I have a mobile edge backpack that I love and have used for 5+ years, but a seem is tearing after all my abuse. What I love most about this pack is that I can stuff in a 17in workstation, all my accessories, some books and have room to spare and it isn't huge. When on my back it doesn't stick out alot even when loaded to it's max capacity. What Im looking for is a pack that does the same as this one but is military grade and can pull office duty and turn around and go camping and be fine. I know this will drive the price up, but thats fine as I use my packs until they literally fall apart. I have seen some Oakley packs that are nice, but I dont know if they would hold a workstation.

Here is the pack I use now:

    http://www.mobileedge.com/express-backpack-black-red.html

With it fully loaded it sticks out ~10-11in and that is even a stretch.

Is there a reason you don't want to just buy a new one of the same pack? It seems as if it's exactly what you want.

Well that is my backup plan. If all else fails I will just go and get another one when it fails completely. But I would like a pack that is hevier duty then what I have so I will not have to get a new one every 5 years AND can use it for more then just carrying my workstation around.

Look at the Maxpedition site for Military Grade backpacks.

    http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/Backpacks-c12.htm

I use the Maxpedition Last Resort Attache case. It is Camo and looks and works great. Heavy duty canvas yet light weight. It fits my 11" 1410 Acer and has room for lots of other things if I need it.

Here is another tip. When and if you find a backpack on their site then google it and look for a better price. I did for my case and saved about $75 between price and shipping.

When someone says military grade, alarm bells ring www.edcforums.com :)

Unless someone here can provide suitable bag, you'll probably find what you want from there. If all else fails, recruit someone there to custom build you a bag ;)

Beware tho, those things might be addictive there...

And if you do find a suitable pack to fit your needs, be sure and let us know. Chances are, there's someone else on this site (me) that may be looking for the same thing.
