    Hi,

I have been enjoying my Logitech mx518 for over 1.5 years now. The right click button got borked unfortunately last week so I need to get a new one.

At the moment I am interested in the following:
-A Razor mouse (something under $80, keep in mind prices are expensive in Australia).
    -Logitech g500
    -Logitech g400
    -Logitech mx518 (direct replacement)

I don't need or want lots of buttons, just a sensitivity toggle and a backwards/forwards set (eg for navigating in browsers). I am comfortable with the grip and aesthetic of the mx518 and am familiar with Logitech; I have never owned Razor equipment. I don't really want a wireless mouse as it means I have to worry about charging/batteries.

    Any advice :)?

    Cheers,
    Pepi

If you are happy with the mouse, get a Logitech G400. The hardware is identical to the MX518. The only differences are better mouse firmware and the shell being a different color.

I think the G500 is a worse mouse if you are talking about purely gaming, but it is probably a better all-around mouse.

I actually wrote up a good comparison between the G400 and G500:

Thanks for the great comparison. If all goes well I'm going to get the g400.

    Cheers.

I would agree. For me, the problem with the G500 is the scroll wheel. It's difficult to use as a button without accidentally scrolling because the detents aren't pronounced enough to stop the rotation. The unlocking wheel is great for surfing the interwebs or navigating big folders, but less so for gaming. If I had the chance, I'd trade my G500 for a 400.

If you want something similar to your MX518, the G400 is basically the "replacement" for it.

Else, I've had nothing but good experiences with my G9x. There's an open box one from Logitech's site going for $45. Sale ends today though.

Honestly if I were you I'd just get another Mx518. I've been using one for 3 years now and it has been nothing short of flawless. It has worked on any surface, it's durable, reliable, and NEVER had a single problem. It's not weird ergonomically shaped or anything so if it ain't broke dont' fix it. There aren't many better options out there.

The G400 is the MX518. But the MX518 firmware was a little "broken" but it was fixed, and they gave the mouse a new name and a new paintjob. All the components are 100% the same and interchangeable.
