Alright guy's my dad is looking for a monitor for his office to connect to his laptop. He wants either LED/IPS but i know its hard/impossible to get an IPS panel with this res under 300...I was lucky with mine from 1saleaday.

These are the specs he is looking for

22” or 23” (he wouldn't mind 24 inch if you can find it
    )

    LED/IPS

High resolution (min 1600x1200; prefer 1920x1080) (Also 1920x1200 would be awesome if you can find it in his range...its just unlikely)

High Contrast Ratio (prefer 5,000,000:1) (I don't think he knows its just a gimmick and does not actually go that high I think he is thinking of dynamic BTW) Something with good contrast :) I'll explain to him that 5mil:1 is impossible 1000:1 is awesome and somewhat obtainable.

Response Time (prefer 5ms or less) Also from what I remember these are GTG, which equals pointless. best IPS panels have is 12-14ms response which is on par or slightly better than crappy TN screens* Unless you get special 120hz gaming screens you still will ghost and not be able to read while scrolling down. Basically, a decent screen that doesn't ghost much :)

Price $200-250 max. (If it is slightly more for something really good post it anyways. I say a 300 dollar max because I am more than willing to pay the rest if it gets him something good. He has done tons for me so why not return the favor :)

*As I was saying my Dell U2412m ghost about the same as my laptop screen maybe a hair less :/ still can't scroll and read at once :/

These are the links to two searches I created in newegg...so many options (for the first one)
    22-24.x inch screen with 1080p to 1920x1200

Newegg search for 22-24.x with only 1920x1200

Things I have found on newegg.com...please tell me what you think
LG IPS231B-BN Black 23" 5ms Height,Swivel & Title Adjustable Full HD IPS Panel LED BackLight LCD...Is this good? Do you know what the actual response time is..on/off.

NEC Display Solutions EA232WMI-BK Black 23" 14ms Full HD Height,Swivel & Pivot Adjustable IPS Panel LED Backlight LCD Monitor...that 14ms is that on/off?

    My recommendations..

AOC Aire Pro - IPS on the super cheap..
link to buy - Aoc I2353PH 23" Aire Pro LED Monitor I2353PH B&H Photo
review - AnandTech - AOC i2353Ph - IPS for a nice, low price

Another one which I would highly recommend is the Dell U2412M. Its a beautiful minimalistic 16:10 ips
Its listed for $329 on dell - Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24inch Monitor Details
but this ebay seller seems to be selling it for much cheaper - Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24" Widescreen LED Monitor - Black 1920X1200. Warranty (0884116064244) | eBay

review - AnandTech - Dell U2412M - 16:10 IPS without Breaking the Bank

If you're willing to in the ~$300 range then another great IPS panel is the Viewsonic VP2365-LED - http://www.amazon.com/Viewsonic-VP2365-LED-23-Inch-Monitor-Black/dp/B0053YKE72
but then again you can also get the dell at that price(if uncomfortable getting from ebay) which IMO would be a better deal simply because its 16:10

i rather not get a used U2412m. I like the monitor it isn't bad at all but best price is provantage right now for 340 with shipping. Dell is 350 like newegg. What do you think of that LG IPS panel I posted.....btw looking at the other IP panel you sent me. I'll see if that is good or usable for my dad.

EDIT: read the review and its meh to me. I honestly don't know if the super budget pick would be good for him without looking at it. I am going to see if the local tigerdirect has one in stock they can hook up so I can see it. Also the two other options look good that I posed earlier and are also in his price point. But I haven't looked for any legit reviews yet. The LG has so user comments on it though :/

The eBay Dell u2412 is used...Dell small biz had it a few days ago for 299 so if you're willing to wait, it'll hit that price again.

Oops, I'm sorry.. I didnt notice the used bit..

Edit: here are some more suggestions in that price range along with fairly detailed reviews

    1. Dell U2212HM - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=04&l=en&sku=320-2736

    3. Dell U2312HM - http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&sku=320-2807
    review - http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_u2312hm.htm

I have read all the reviews at an earlier date but dont really remember too well to recommend one clear winner over the three..

Have a read and hopefully, you'll like on of em..

well i called and got 25 bucks off of a dell U2412m which is alright. With tax from dell i got it for 323 bucks so thats a pretty good deal. I wish I would have bought more from the 1saleaday thing but oh well its only 50 bucks more. It is still 20 bucks cheaper then provantage. I wish they massed produced the 19:10s more because it is stupid how much more a 16:10 costs over a 1080p.

Search slickdeals, I saw the Dell U2311H for $199 a while back. It's a great deal for the money.
