I was told that this will be the best notebook cooler for my notebook, but one big issue is that the cooler is rather expensive. I can't find a place that sells it for under $60.

I think the cheapest way to get it is through ebay using the Microsoft cashback deal when paying with Paypal.

I got my NC2000 through ebay (from Sharkacomputers) and got ~$17 back from the cashback promotion... making my final total under $45 for the NC2000. :)

Wow that's really nice. Though I'm assuming that was when the cashback was 30%? Guess I have to wait since it seems to be slowly on the rise lately.

Build your own cooler, it will be much better than anything you buy on the market
Zalman makes low grade products at best. People think of them as having exceptional quality, but they really havent wandered off and seen some of the real stuff which is made

You can do the same thing as me, just use different fans.
All you really need for a laptop cooler is fans, a power source and a medium to mount the fans on.
If you read my review, you will see that direct flow coolers work best because of the lackthereof of negative turbulence. Almost ever laptop cooler on the market has the fans sandwiched between the laptop and the desk, which greatly reduces performance. The best way to mae a cooler, is with fans standing vertical blowing under the laptop, or ones where there is enough room for the fan to run parallel to the base of the laptop, so that their is enough room for air to move.

I'm not sure if I'm tech savy enough to build a reliable cooler on my own.

nc2000 is FAR from the best cooler out there. if u are still stuck on the zalman bandwagon then ebay would probably be yur best bet. especially with the bonus cash backs that others already mentioned.

u could always check the for sale forum here. i've seen zalman coolers bein sold for better coolers in the past.

Alright what would be a better cooler for my notebook that cools efficiently and is quiet? I was recommended the Zalman NC2000 by X2P in that one huge thread.

wow supprised to hear a cryo owner say the nc2000 is better.

no doubt looks & build quality of my nc1000 are top notch but actual cooling power of it is not too high as it seems to prefer silence to raw performance. the cryo with 120mm fans I would think can push much more air and thus be a better "cooler" in terms of cooling your computer.

I have always wanted to get the digital cowboy, it looks like the best of both worlds, great design & great cooling but no way can I find it in the states.

Variable tilt, folds flat, high cfm and no "dead space"

Read again. Houstoned actually meant it the other way. The NC2000 is a great cooler, but is way out of reach of the Cryo. The only great thing is how silent it actually runs.
