I know starting this thread is a bit too late but nevertheless here it is...

I've already purchased a 9 cell battery with my M1330 so that maybe the cause of the major delay (sept 06 shippment). I might plan on buying the 6 cell later on (maybe in a few months) just so that I can swap around when I'm not requiring so much battery power.

I'm deciding right now whether or not to buy a laptop sleeve or a bag (more like a suit case but has shoulder straps) or an actual laptop backpack (the ones that kids take to school but with a built-in laptop pocket. I don't know what exactly the advantages or disadvantages there are for each type.

I'm going to U of T and my friend who's already been though it for his first year advised me that the use of books is really not necessary and not likely. He says "if you have a laptop it's already good enough". It maybe best to buy a laptop bag (with a should strap) but I'm still skeptical about it since it just sounds that "carefree".

For mouse I'm definately spending money on Logitech v270 BT mouse unless something better suddenly comes out. I'm happy about its price right now and it seems to be best at the moment on the market. ($52 with tax included)

I've also recieved suggestions from Sledgehammer70 to get a LappyMat. I'm still having a chat with him right now about it as we speak but this is on my "maybe" list at this point. It's a mat that seperates your monitor and the keyboard so that your monitor won't get scractches if your lappie ever gets compressed. *update: I decided to get just to be on the safe side* ($17 with shipping included)

just the mouse the LappyMat itself is already 70 dollars =O Add teh bag I and go up to 140 :(

Umm...Sept 06? You meant 07 I hope! Otherwise, you've been very patient waiting for nearly a year! Anyways, with a backpack style bag you get to put your books and stuff in it and will be more comfortable then the sling type especially if you're walking around all day though the M1330 is pretty light. Of course, if you're like me then you'll have more junk to carry around because you have more room...

ps. Why didn't you get the extra battery when you were pricing? It would've been cheap I think

I already spent 40 bucks extra to upgrade it to 9 cell.. the problem is Canadian site only offers 6 cell, 9 cell or 9 cell with bonus 9 cell option. I don't want 2 - 9 cell batteries that just totally defeats my purpose.

When I said Sept 06 I mean September 06th 2007 sorry if that caused confusion.

The V270 is a relatively big mouse so, while I use it at home, I don't take it travelling. I have also had problems with Bluetooth reducing battery life (but this may not apply to the M1330). While away from home I either use a smaller wired mouse or the touchpad.

Maybe you should leave the V270 on your wish list for a bit longer.

About the sleeve/bag it seems that customers in the US have been getting a free sleeve with their order, so you might want to hold of on buying that. When I ordered my M1330 I also ordered the belkin messenger bag (red/black), and received it a few weeks back. It looks very good actually, and will be perfect for the computer and one or two books.

well I haven't see how small it actually is but I wouldn't want to use a miniture mouse when I go portable if I cannot even fit the size of my palm on it. I think bluetooth will have an impact on battery life but i don't think it will ve significant because of it's design to consume the least amount of energy possible. I might just stick with the touch pad for now and maybe wait till christmas when a saving comes and buy it for cheaper. I might be gaming on CS source with my lappie for a bit so I want to have a solid mouse that I can use.

I've been hearing the same thing Waeggles has been hearing ... apparently the m1330 comes bundled with a sleeve :chatterbox:

I sure hope that's true. Unfortuantely he also mentioned this is only for US orders. I'm in Canada this means I'm not under the benefit :( I guess I'll have to wait till sept. and see.

If we do get the sleeve what's the next best option to carry the laptop? Wouldn't it be weird if we held the laptop inside a "protective binder" and just carry it around?

Where are you buying the V270? I got mine for $30 shipped like over a year ago. Realistically you will be using the touchpad most of the time in classes etc. Too much hassel with a mouse. I use my mouse in the dorm and in the library.

hmm.. very interesting.... I'm planning to buy mine at Canada Computers. Where did you get yours? I know touch pad is good but there's 1 issue. I noticed it doesn't have a "middle button" :( This is going to cause me some trouble if I wanted to scroll web pages

Hey guys I'm looking for some kind of a pad or something which I can use to rest me laptop on whenever I'm using it on a table so that when I'm at school and if some table is not clean my laptop has some kind of a buffer? thanks.

That's what the laptop's feet are for. I'm not sure why you feel the need to lug around a pad to act as a buffer between the tabletop and your laptop.

What I use with my m1330 and 1520-
    Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000
    Motorola S9 Bluetooth headset
    Oakley AP Sandbag

You may have noticed, cords are the bane of my existence. I should note that my S9 headset is in the mail, I have yet to use it.
