I have a Notepal U3 and a NZXT Cryo X60 ... one for home (the U3) and one for the office (the NZXT X60).

I like them both and in stock configurations they cool my Gigabyte P35G v2 about the same ... a few degrees off of idle and a few degrees off of load temps.

But with the NZXT X60, I figured it could do much better if those turbine 120mm fans had more room to move air and so shortly after buying the admittedly very neat looking cooler, I decided to take a little pneumatic hand saw to the grill and cut out some holes around the fans ...

It pretty much doubled the cooler's performance when using it's highest fan setting (which is a tad noisy but which I use exclusively as our office has ambient sound enough that I never even hear it). Those two 120mm fans just happen to line up EXACTLY under my P35G's CPU/GPU fan intakes, though and so I'm sure this contributes to the good results. YMMV...

This mod brought my typical idle CPU temp down from around 45C to about 35C ... and knocked a good six to eight degrees off of load temps as well. Our office is generally a pretty cool 21C or so and so I'm sure that's a factor. I'm also using the NZXT cooler with those little "flip feet" things extended so it has a bit of room beneath it.

    Here's the damage:

Really stoked on this mod. I've found most of the "top" notebook coolers really don't do anything dramatic, including this NZXT x60 and also the U3 and in their stock configurations.

But this X60 mod really works good ... albeit in a well air conditioned space ... but still ... it's pretty freaky to see my gaming notebook idle in the mid 30's ... which is something I've never seen ANY notebook I've ever owned idle at ... (shiza .. my old Sony VPCCB used to idle at near 55C) ...

It's a pretty cooler though and it hurt a bit to cut it ... but function over form when it comes to my gear.

there are some non restrictive meshes that could be JB welded in if you needed a saftey guard over the fans.
