I'm deciding between these two. I really like the MS one and that it works with no receiver but I read a lot of stuff about how this mouse keeps disconnecting itself and is not very well built.
On the other hand the Logitech would take up one USB port and is less ergonomic and has worse design (in my opinion)..
Anybody who could help me decide?

It's held up well during that time. I don't use it as much as I used to. (I have a few more mice).
Now, having both a MS and Logitech branded BT mice (I have the Logitech M555b). I can say both brands are great.
I don't have the V450, though. I like the BT 5000, the battery life has, in the past held up well for me. I hadn't really noticed any disconnect.
In fact, if you want..tomorrow I could connect it up to my new lappy..and see how it works on it for the day ~ if you would like! And, give you some feedback!
Now, I also have this for "Nano Receiver" the Microsoft Mobile Mouse 6000, this is a great Mouse!
The V450 is priced at about $30 at amazon right now, and the MS BT 5000 is at about $35
Hope that helps!

I have the BT 5000 and it does randomly disconnect, this can sometimes happen several times a day and can take anywhere between 10-30 seconds to reconnect, if it even does.
And another issues is when you have a fast wireless connection and download something, it can cause the mouse to become unresponsive until the heavy download stops. -
Oh well, I still didn't find ANY bluetooth mouse that would have NO issues at all.
Cin, I would love to hear some mini review.. Could you give it a try for couple hours? I would really appreciate that. -
It's the Dell Bluetooth 5-Button Travel Mouse - it's on sale today for $12 w/free shipping. Reg. Price is $30. I'm quite surprised it's still availi' for order. The BTooth is a very simple connection & the functions are easy to use. I haven't seen disconnect or prob's with it on my XPS 1640 (new lappy). And, its about the same size as the MS BT 5000.
Here is the LINK
You may want to think about giving this one a shot for the price..it's worthy of a try.

Oh yeah, I've seen your link already and almost bought it! But than I found out that it is an optical mouse unlike the MS which is laser.
After using Logitech Anywhere mouse I kinda hope that all laser mice work on this couch! It's so comfortable to sit on couch and have the mouse next to your right leg.. And I am sure optical mouse wouldn't work.
It would be nice if you could try MS 5000 on different surfaces. If it works only on table etc. I would order this Dell mousie.. Thanks again! -
I am trying it on a magazine for you, and I am trying it on a glossy box, different surface (in my bedroom..not feeling well
) etc...
The hookup & recognition to my XPS 1640 was instant. There were no problems. I have had no "lags" nor, any disconnects yet. I am going to let it "sit" with non usage for about 10 minutes and see what happens in a few minutes.
I wanted to show you this: (comparison of the MS BT 5000 & the Dell BT Travel Mouse)

I'll vouch for the Dell 5-button mouse. Aside from the Razer Orochi, it's the best Bluetooth mouse I've ever used. For starters, it's got the full 5 buttons that most desktop mice have, which is pretty rare among BT mice. And optical is actually better than laser for tracking on multiple surfaces; lasers tend to be very picky, although it really doesn't make much difference anyway. Odds are neither of them are going to be over 1,000 DPI anyway.
I paid $35 full price for mine over a year ago. I would gladly pay the same price again for another one if mine ever broke, but you're in luck. As Cin' pointed out, it's only $12 today at dell.com, it's definitely a hell of a deal on a hell of a mouse. -
Thanks Shroom'
And, Sagi..after working with both the MS BT 5000 & the Dell BT Travel Mouse at the same time on my XPS 1640, for a few hours...Honestly, I found that I prefer to use the Dell BT Travel Mouse more.
The scrolling is much easier & "fluid" on the Dell BT Travel Mouse. I seem to move around a lot quicker.
Whereas, on the MS BT 5000; the "clicking" of the scrolling wheel when going up and down feel's a bit "heavy" or "gritty".
When "highlighting" text as such, I seem to have the same results on both, so that is a good thing.
I have not had any disconnects or lags after letting it sit for well over 20 minutes on its own at one point. It woke up appropriately on it's own after when my hand moved it.
So, I think the choice is going to come down to what you want from a mouse.
The MS BT 5000 feels good in the hand. It does the job it should do as a BT Mouse, and it seems to work on a few surfaces, as other mice do.
Hope that helps you.

I'm pretty sure you will like the Dell BT Travel Mouse.

Heh. Last week I ordered the Razer Orochi (which just arrived but I have yet to mess around with it) and with that Dell deal I bit on the Bluetooth 5 button mouse. I also own the Logitech VX Revolution (love this mouse but the dongle is massive). Will be interesting which I would like best for portable use.
-
Hey.. You should post a little review here.. I wanna know how bad is the Dell mouse in compare to the Orochi beast.
-
Any review will have to wait as I have no bluetooth dongle atm and I bought all this stuff in anticipation for my M11x (with builtin bluetooth) when it arrives in the mail.
