I'm trying to decide between the two. I hardly ever take my laptop out and essentially just use it at home so size is not a real issue.

Which of these mice would you recommend? I had a play with the MX and although it was big, it was really comfy. Any comments regarding the VX revolution (not the VX nano)?

If you're always on the laptop rather than a desktop, then get the MX Revo for full sized glory.

VX Revo/Nano were meant to be more portable, for people who travel with their laptops.

I would say the VX Revolution, but that's my personal preference. I don't like how there's a scroll wheel for the thumb on the MX Revolution, I find just it uncomfortable :p.

VX Revolution is better in my opinion. It has all the features you will ever need and it just looks, feels just as good as the MX. Though MX might feel nicer, it is bulky. I know you've mentioned that you hardly take out your laptop, but why not get something that's more flexible? VX works great as a desktop mouse as well as a portable mouse. It's also cheaper and you can save money! Ultimately it depends on your personal preference. So get what you believe is the best for you.

thanks for that. will be popping into staples soon to get a feel of the VX. The MX felt really nice but I don't like the idea of having a fixed battery and a recharging station. Too many things making it too messy.

In terms of the scroll wheel, does the auto-detect feature on the MX between hyper-scroll and standard one work really well? Is it worth the extra and is this feature redundant on the VX because of the lack of auto-detection?

I prefer the MX. I have big hands and I don't like to clump up my hands around a small laptop mouse. I use a full sized G5 with my laptop. Because it's bigger it just feels better for me, like it's more meant for my hand.

As far as I know, the scrolling on the MX works exactly as it should, including the hyper-scrolling when you flick it.

Right... have been using the VX for a week now and all in all, its a great mouse. But I find it a wee bit small for my liking. I think i'm gonna return it for the MX.

The scroll wheel is a real inovation. Anyone found problems with the auto switch for the scroll wheel on the MX?

I have small hands, so I really like my VX Revolution. However, I also like the idea of rechargeable batteries rather than dry. I don't have anything around the house other than my graphing calculator that requires dry batteries, everything else run on rechargeable batteries.

I think its all down to whether you use your wrist to move the mouse... in which case you will like to "palm" it and get a bigger mouse like the MX; or you use your thumb and last fingers and generally more distal muscles... you woudl prefer the smaller VX.

I currently use the MX510 and have been for some time now. How does it compare to the VX Revolution?

I know that the VX Revolution is cordless; but, all in all, is it a good mouse to carry with a laptop? How is the battery life?

This mouse would be used for work (3D Modeling, A/V Editing, etc) and for gaming as well.

I don't know about the MX510 but the VX is quite nice. As I said, it all depends if you like it small or like to palm it.

Lots of reviews on google for both. The battery life is up to 4 months on the VX on a single AA. On the MX its up to a week or 10 days on a single charge. If you are carrying your laptop about, I think the VX is a much better choice. No need to lug about the charging base. The review I read on gaming with these are quite good. Although it has only 800dpi, its quite accurate and they have no complaints.

Thanks for the quick response! I would prefer a smaller mouse since it will be traveling with me via airplane often.

4 months battery life on the VX is awesome!

How is the VX compared to the VX nano? Is there much of a size difference. Also, anyone have any experience gaming on the VX/VX Nano?

Finally got the MX revolution today. I must say that its the most comfy mouse I've ever used and I should have bought it instead of the VX long ago. The scroll button is much better and the auto-shift is quite nifty. The document flip scroll wheel is also convenient for vista. all in all, its a great mouse and worth every penny.

on another note, the scroll button on my VX failed after one week. This is probably due to a manufacturing defect and not reflective of logitech's quality.

I just got my vx nano yesterday, pretty happy with it, just a question though.

anyone feels that they have "excessive" sideways play on the scrollwheel?
Is it supposed to feel the same like the vx/mx revolution? Mine definitely has more sideways play, pretty annoying when I try to scroll.

shops wouldnt let me "try" another mouse because its in a sealed pack.

I've got the VX revolution for my laptop and my parents have the MX for their desktop.....Overall I'd say the VX is better in terms of overall battery life, size and portability if ever needed. Plus the size isn't to small either and it feels just right.

The scroll wheel on the MX will often kick in when it shouldn't, and it'll fail to go back to click mode when it should. Still, the best mouse out there, I think.

I love my VX revolution. I bought it because I travel a lot, and I didn't want to keep up with a full size mouse and radio station/charger. I think it runs on one AA battery (guess how long its been since I've changed it...) and I've had to swap it once since I bought the mouse last December.

Personally I find my VX painful to use for more than 15 min or so because of its small size,I also have a G7 which the size is more to my liking as I would imagine the MX being also.

I like the buttons and scroll wheel [and battery life!]a lot more on the VX [than the G7]but not the cramped size and inferior precision

I use the VX and its an excellent mouse. However, the supposed 4 months of battery life from a single AA is incredibly optimistic. When I used the mouse heavily (over 10 hours per day) I would get roughly 1 and a half months. That said, with more conservative I suppose 4 months is possible.
