Hello, in the next few days I'm likely to get an sxps 16. I need a mouse because for what I do a touchpad just doesn't cut it. I've looked on the logitech website and decided on either the MX or the VX because of the ergonomic styling, good looks and lots of customizable buttons.
I can get both for around the same price (which, incidently, is about half of what logitech quote on their site). I don't plan on moving around too much so I'm not really too bothered about having a small mouse (very small mice get on my nerves too) but I can't find the dimensions for either. I get very bad mouse hand so the ergonomics are important for me too.
Can you please give me some opinions on which I should go with

Both are excellent, I think it really comes down to the size of your hands and how you hold the mouse. Ive heard some VX revolution owners with full-sized adult male hands complain that it is too small, and many people with smaller hands highly recommend it. Some people fully "palm" the mouse, resting their entire across it, while others use the "claw" method, arching their hand over the mouse only making contact with their finger tips.
If you have big hands and/or prefer to "palm" the mouse, go with the MX revolution. If you have smaller hands and/or "claw" the mouse go with the VX.
Other differences: MX is rechargeable, VX uses battery. MX switching between hyperscroll and click scrolling can be done simply by depressing the scroll button, while with the VX you have to turn the mouse over and flip a switch to change.
If it were me and I wasn't going to be taking the mouse anywhere, I'd go with the MX. -
OK, I do have quite large hands, it helps with my guitar
The mouse I'm using at the moment rather small and I have to use the claw teqnique which I'v gotten used to over the months, given the amount of time I spend on the computer the tips of my fingers start to feel kinda funky because of it. I also blame the "claw" for my bad mouse hand because I don't use my arm enough and all the movement comes from the wrist -
ok I bought both a week ago and returned the VX, my hand is 8" long(wrist-to-middle finger) and 3.5" wide(knuckle-to-knuckle) the Mx fits way better the the VX, which was uncomfortable to use.
native support is ok, but with the setpoint software I have more buttons then I know what to do with lol -
I like the vx revolution design but it's more up to you.
-
I got both and if I had to choose one I would keep the MX.
-
I stopped by the local Best Buy and demoed both mice. The VX is pretty convenient for me as I have medium sized hands and like to claw. I like the thumb scroll on the MX though, twice the rolling action!!
-
But why do you like the MX?
MX is quite a bit bigger than the VX and is considered a wireless desktop mouse, not notebook. I think both are fine, truly the VX is just a smaller version with one less feature. Both have right hand ergonomics. -
I know this is an old thread, but oh well..
I've got large hands, but I still prefer the VX revolution, because the MX just seems too big for too much travel... the VX seems to be a happy medium between the MX and VX nano -

A simple tip is to use google product search and then use the price bars to narrow down on the cheapest one

If mobility is not the primary concern and ergonomics is, then hands down you want the MX. It is bigger and also has more features. The Nano is a great road mouse. I love it. But if I would never use it over my MX on my desktop or if I kept my laptop on a desk most of the time, which I do not.
-
I have both mice. I use the MX when i am at my desk and the laptop is in the docking station. I use the VX when on the road. I like the MX because of the additional capabilities that it has, namely the window switching via the wheel on the side, and the fact that the scroll type will switch automatically between programs. It would be too big for protable use though. I like the VX because of its portability, and I do find that I miss the additional capabilities of the MX.

the only thing about the nano is that if you are on your computer a long time, it put some strain on your wrists and forearms...
i use the vx and the mx because of the contoured shape, pinky side sloping down. this makes it a very comfortable mouse.
i have very early signs of carpal tunnel due to extended computer use... numb feelings from elbow and up... worst is tingling...
the vx and mx shape helps a lot... i wanted the nano because of the sheer size of the usb receiver... but it was flat... not too comfy for me. -
Okaaaaaaaaaaaay, maybe I should be going to a doctor then, I have tingling and numbness all the time in my mouse hand
-
I use a squishy palm rest, but I occasionally have numbness and sharp pain in my wrist. I messed around with the VX Revolution and I like the feel of it. The thumb wheel on the MX is awesome though.
-
I would definitely go with the MX Revolution if portability is not a primary concern. And even if you do go somewhere, it's wireless. Not exactly a hassle to carry around.
It has way better ergonomics than the VX (at least for me; I have huge hands). I'm used to full sized mice and have trouble adjusting to smaller ones. I've gone from an old full-hand palm grip IBM ball mouse, to a Logitech trackball, to a Microsoft Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0, to a wired IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0, to my current Logitech G9. -
I have both, and after getting use to the smart scroll wheel on the MX revolution... it is impossible to go back.
I got rid of my VX revolution and bought a MX revolution for my desktop, and a VX nano for my EEE.
If I had to pick one, it would be the MX revolution hands down. -

I am curious about the MX is the adapter very receptive or is it one of those line of site deals? The right side usb ports on my laptop are too far forward to work well I was thinking id plug it into the end of my 4 port usb hub and attach that to the back.
It would place the adapter 3/4 of the way to the right corner of the laptop (on the backside of course). The usb hub as u can see it has a port on the end - http://images.tigerdirect.com/skuimages/large/T22-2203-main-ca.jpg -
I likes me my VX Revolution
It's not only a great mouse, but the portable receiver that pops right into the mouse is a nifty feature for a traveler like me.
