Is there a way to make the MagicJack work while the computer is sleeping?

No, don't think it would work since your USB and LAN has to be powered while sleeping and your network connection would have to be utilized directly by the USB device.

I was willing to get that too. What sort of Internet speed is required to make it work properly and how much did you paid?

I think even a modest internet speed is good enough, even a 56K modem can be used! :)

My neighbor has one, he paid $40 for it (the unit costs us$20) and the additional $20 is for the subscription. You have to pay US$20 every year to use its facilities.

I guess that is quite good given that you can make interstate calls free of toll.

I think you at least need dsl for it to work properly. The quality also heavily relies on having a decent phone. I tried it with my old office phone and it didn't sound that great, but after I bought a new phone it worked just fine, never had anyone complain when I use it. Been tempted lately to build a atom htpc that could run all the time and hook it up to my magic jack. You also get voice mail for when its not on.
