    Ok....On this model Y720DCD-25T1-GP...I would like to know if the end of the 4 pin connector which you plug in the motherboard (the end away from the fan) is male or female?

    So you have the wire comming out of the fan, and at its end there is a connector...male or female?

    The picture at sundialmicro.com shows a female plug. I've never seen a case fan that didn't have a female plug on it.

    Mostly all the plug connectors are male. Whatever jack is in the product is female.

    Distinguishing between male and female connectors is like distinguishing between male and females in humans. Let me give you an example:

    Anyway, we get the point, jacks in the products/walls are female and wires connectors going into them are males.
