For my computer science and calculus class I have to submit the homework online. It takes like twice as long to type out the problems compared to actually doing them. Im wondering whats the best software and hardware (maybe a writing pad) that can alleviate my pain.

Learn LaTeX. I use is almost daily for journal papers and other 'scholarly works' and it's great.
From $e=mc^2$ to $N(0,\sigma) \equiv \frac{1}{2\sigma^{2}}\int_\infty^{x}e^{\frac{x^2}{2\sigma^2}}dx$
it takes very little time to punch in long equations once you know how to use it.
If you're a windows user, look into MikTex or Lyx (I myself have used neither of these, but I'm told these are the best way to get into LaTeX in windows) -
I was hoping for like a hand writing recognition pad lol. I already got LaTeX and Mathematica. Been working on it for a whole day now. Thanks for your suggestion though.

Installing the Microsoft Equation editor:

Using the Microsoft Equation editor:

OpenOffice also has an equivalent feature:

Get a tablet PC so you can just write it on your screen

I use a program called Mathcad. It is very powerful calculation program. However you could use it to simply use it to display formulas. It dose have a rather steep learning curve though. I only paid $20 for my copy through my school however if you can not get a student discount it is VERY expensive. I attached a screen shot for you to see.

Definitely take the bit of time it will take to learn LaTeX. It will come in handy later!
(It's on my to-do list lol)
The other option that may or may not be acceptable is to do them on paper and scan it in -
.
But some of the above suggestions look like they'll work. I may even look into using some of those myself. -
I use MathType. It's like MS's equation editor on steroids. Got it 4 years ago and have been using it ever since.

I suggested a digital notepad in another thread...but here's the link and what I said to avoid repeating oneself:
