I was pushing in my memory stick pro duo into the memory card reader too hard, and the case popped open, and the chip inside fell out. Nothing cracked, but the chip was a little bent. I tried putting the memory stick together and read it again, it wouldn't read. Is there any other way for me to access the memory card? I haven't backed up the pictures yet.

Hey corona. I can suggest two options for your problem. First, have you tried using some Memory Stick recovery data software? If you haven't, you can try the following:

You can try one that Sony offers, Memory StickĀ® File Rescue. You can download it for free, but it requires you to register your MemoryStick model, name, and serial number (so hopefully you have an original one, or else it won't work). It recovers .DCF, .JPG, MPEG I movies, MPEG 4 movies and virtually all types data files, except for files that are encrypted, game data, formatted, overwritten or contain DRM. You also cannot use this for PSP memorysticks.

A guy from DigicamReview tested this software and it recovered 102 of his lost photos.

A second option is to send your Memorystick for repairs to Sony (which will definitely cost you), or another third-party company that specializes in such. There are a couple of companies/websites that offer this service depending where you're based.

    You can check the following:

    Zero Assumption Recovery.
    -Check under "Digital Image Recovery."

    Vensys Flash Data Recovery.
-They have a service specifically catered to repairing "Bent or snapped Sony Memory Sticks."

Sony Memory Stick Pro & Sony Memory Stick Duo
File & Image Recovery & Repairs
-Not too sure about this, but you can give 'em a call and see what they offer.

Good luck with the repairs, and hope it helps...
