Hello was the big difference between the Microsoft 4000 mouse and the Microsoft 6000 mouse except the design and that the 6000 has one extra button, also the 4000 says that battery last 10+ and 6000 8+. But what else is different and worth getting one over the other. As I'm interested in getting one of those but doesn't look like they are much difference between them. Thanks

4000 seems to have Bluetrack, basically better technology so it works on most surfaces. It's also smaller sized and the receiver looks really small also. Better portability (laptop bag) and suits for both left- and righthand use.

6000 is bigger and right-hand only.A desktop mouse. Has 2 thumb buttons. This model has to be tested before purchase, it's shape may not fit all users. I didn't like it when I tried.

At least that I can see from the product pages when I googled those names. If there's more products with similar names, none of the above apply.

Links would be nice next time ;)

    I have the 6000, it's been a great Mouse :)
It also has the BlueTrack Technology! I like it for it's Nano Receiver, the fact that I can use it on many "surfaces", and it gets pretty good battery life. Oh, the fact that it just feels "great" in my hands. This was my first Nano Receiver mouse ever.

The scrolling is nice & "smooth" on this mouse.. :)

Here are a few pic's for you, you can get a better idea..

Comparison photo with a few other Mice! (for size purposes)
    6000, on far right...

    Hope that helps!

Haha, great minds think alike Cin!

I bought the Mobile 6000 a little while ago due to the fact it had the Back and Forward buttons, had BlueTrack (I'm a sucker for it :p) and used a nano receiver (which stays plugged in the netbook pretty much all the time).

The mouse is ambidexterous, so is designed to work in both your right and left hands.

If I had to think of a problem with the mouse, I would probably say the scroll wheel's surface isn't as grippy as I'm used to (I usually use a Explorer BlueTrack mouse).

i just bought and used a 4000 for the past 2 weeks. i was attracted to it cus it has an extra side button and it fits my hand better than most of the other notebook mice. i love the mouse but the scroll wheel really sucks bad. it has no tactile feedback, it just rolls smoothly and u can't tell how far it's rolling. in addition, when u use the wheel to scroll through webpages the scrolling doesn't feel too accurate.

Heard of the mouse receiver having really bad overheating issues, you may want to check that out

I was looking at buying a 4000 as well, but do they really get 10+ months battery life?

    LoL Yeah! :)
It's just worked pretty well for me. I think when I first got it, I was afraid the glossiness of it would be a problem..but no, it's been just fine! : )

    Which one?

My Nano Receiver on my MS 6000 has never, even showed the "slightest" hint of this issue.

I bought the 4000 for 19.99 at best buy. I liked how it felt. I saw those reviews but have seen bad reviews on other product I have had and I haven't encountered them so I said this might be the same. I went with this cheaper model as I couldn't see any difference between the 6000 and 4000 except design.

Right now I am really liking it and feels nice, I changed some settings so it could scroll better and the buttons feels a lot nice, no loud noise when clicked(like that much as my older one you would here the clicking sound everytime you clicked on something).

Thanks for the help and Cin how long have you had your 6000.
