I have a Canon 500D. It has a mini hdmi out port for connecting it to an hdtv. Our family tv is a 23" HP LCD. It is a few years old and it does not have an HDMI port. It does have: Component, Composite, Svid, DVI, and VGA.
Since there are no direct Mini HDMI to DVI/VGA/Component adapters, I assume I'll have to buy a mini hdmi to hdmi adapter, and then buy an hdmi to dvi/vga/or component adapter or cable.
Can anyone recommend me where I should buy these and what type of adapter would be the best(Component, VGA, or DVI)?
Thanks.

(mini)HDMI and DVI are digital , while vga/component/composite/svideo are analog
go for dvi
monoprice.com, get a miniHDMI to HDMI, then an adapter for HDMI female to DVI male -
Not all DVI ports are digital so before you buy the cables you may want to check teh monitor first. Verify the connectors here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

According to the above document, the HP L2335's DVI port is DVI-D, DVI-A, and DVI-I.Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015
