buying laptop, need a mouse, not sure what to do.

I pretty much have it down to two options. Just need some more info and Im sure you guys can answer my questions.

I was looking into the V400, but the reviews I read left out some information or were contridictory. hows the battery life on it? will I need to replace it every week? or more like every 3 months? how well do rechargables last in it? hows the lag/response time? also, the two buttons, how akward are they to hit? heard a lot of mixed things about them. or can anyone recommend another wireless mouse? bluetooth works too.

the other option is to just use my desktop mouse (wired) and replace that one with something else. though I've become so used to it (MX500) I cant find another mouse that feels right. thinking I should just buy another mx500 for the laptop, but was wondering if anyone knew of any other good 5 button mice (left, right, middle/wheel, and 2 thumb buttons). the newer G5/G7 looks alright, but lacks the 2nd mouse button, which I use ALL the time.

anyone have any sugestions for a new desktop mouse? from my browsing I cant seem to find anything new that looks or feels right.

    thanks for the help.

I'm *very* happy with my v200 personally. Was thinking about a v400, but decided it was too much.

The extra buttons on the V400 arent a problem, and i dont experience a lag issue. I think for me it only goes to sleep after a pretty long time and I've used both the orange and grey ones. I'm happy with my grey one. I'm not sure about battery life but remember the V200 takes 2 batteries and the V400 takes one.

you are right the mx series is awesome. i have been using the mx510 for a long time and my hand grew on it. i was going to get the same thing for my laptop but sadly they dont seem to sell it anymore. I got myself a G7 which was on sale and it came in the fake carbon fiber instead of aqua green. i really love it because i hate how they think laptop mice should be small but this one fits me perfectly. i love how i can switch batteries when i get home. i swtich about every 3 days of heavy use

only bad thing was the wheel sits a bit high and sometimes when i press the wheel button, i have to push it down precisely or i might tilt left or right instead. the scroll up was a bit too clicky/noisy. those are very minor and i have already gotten used to it

The MX518 is just like the MX510, but has potentially better tracking (Adjustable) from 400-800-1600DPI. I like wired mice because they're crazy and run a lot.
