OK, to begin, I want to buy these two products in best buy. I have gift cards and stuff from there so it will just be easier than ordering it online for me. I know this narrows my available products down...
My budget for both of these would hopefully be between $100-150. Obviously around 100 is better...
Lets start with a mouse, I was looking at the G700 and I really liked it. Only thing was $100 was a bit expensive. If I get a cheap headset or headphones I would definitely get this. The type of games I play, and how much I play are as follows. As soon as I get my new laptop I will be playing- SC2, D3, TW2, ME2, probably a few FPS' and other RPGs or simulation games like Civ5 and Total War: Shogun. I played a lot of competitive matches on console and there is a good chance I will on pc as well.
Headphones/ Headset- I am not really sure which to get yet. I was leaning towards headphones with good sound quality with a microphone. My dad has skullcandys with a mic that he uses for phone calls, so something like that. Needs to work with Vent. I also saw that the Gamescom 377 was recommended on here often and I would usually just go get something like that, I just do not know if I want a big bulky headset right now.
Thanks, for all of the consideration,
Vapkez

If you don't mind wired mice, that really opens up your choices; the G700 is actually on the cheaper side for wireless gaming mice. The Razer Mamba, for example, is $130, and it's the G700's main wireless competitor.
I recommend the Razer DeathAdder. It's a very straightforward no-nonsense gaming mouse, with a right-handed shape (there's a lefty version as well), 5 buttons, and a top notch 3,500 DPI optical sensor. It's one of Razer's least expensive and most popular models, and I've definitely seen it at Best Buy before.
The Logitech MX518 is another great choice; it's in a similar vein of right-handed shape and 5 buttons with an optical sensor, although 1,800 DPI instead of 3,500. Usually cheaper than the DeathAdder as well.
As for headsets, definitely get the GameCom 377. Even if you completely disregard the mic, they'll still sound better than any Skullcandy. -
Thanks for the quick feedback. I am not saying I wanted a skull candy, just was using that as an example for the microphone on the headphones. I actually hate how they stick straight into my ears unlike the more conventional Apple style headphones.

You can buy the G700 for $70 or so online, not sure how much you have in Best Buy giftcards but if it's not that much, it might be worth going that route instead.

dang made a sale thread over the weekend. Newegg and Logitech was having a memorial day sale for $70 g700's shipped.
definitely thumbs up for the g700!
headset? I was in the same boat as you when I was shopping for one. Until I realized, wth is the point spending that kind of money when I can use it on good headphones. Who needs a mic.. I play bfbc2 and I never use the mic, never. That's just me thoughthose COD kids like to mic spam a lot from what I remember; I see no use in one though. D3 isn't even out yet, not even sure if Blizzard will even end up releasing this year.... Been waiting a lonnnnnng time for this release
if you're looking for the $50 range for sound; a good pair of headphones is Audio Technica m40. Definitely doesn't compare to my m50's, but for an introductory level set of cans, m40's is not bad at all.
if you're a bass head and all you want is bass, Sony XB500 or DJ100 pro's. DJ100's a little bit more if you can dish it out but both packs some serious bass.
or if you want a neutral sound with clear/not thumpy bass, Sennheiser 428 is a good choice as well.
Just a couple introductory headphones that you can think about.
How much do you have in best buy gift cards? Weigh out the price differences, probably end up being cheaper buying it online. Most likely.. might be, I could be wrong.
Also what shroom said, stay away from skull candy! Just overpriced straight out of the garbage junk. There is a heck of a lot better choices to pick from. If you want a mic though, 377 is not that bad. It was on top of my list when I was looking for a headset before headphones.
Just depends what you want
*Edit
Was going through my email and found a logitech coupon I was saving from doing one of their usual surveys they give out. Question is, "IF" you want a G700 and if you're willing to buy online other than bestbuy... Logitech.com still have the g700 for $83.99 for sale (not their $70 shipped weekend special). Plus a free copy of Witcher, some game never heard of. I think the coupon is 10% off, just tested it out. Total went from $83.99 to $79.99 shipped.
Let me know -

yup yup. Never played The Witcher, but I think it's TW1. Basing off logitech's picture when I put the g700 in cart and comparing it online

My parents are just giving me some extra cash so I am not going to order it online. Thanks for the offer of using that coupon.
