I'm looking for a mouse to replace my VX Nano (it works perfectly- it's just too small.)
I've been looking at the Logitech V470 because of its size, price, and bluetooth.
What recommendation do you guys have?
-
Check out the Razer Orochi if you can afford it. It's the most comfortable mobile mouse I've ever used. Bluetooth works great for "normal" stuff, e.g. web browsing, email, stuff like that, and the detachable 3-foot USB cable turns it into a high-power 4,000 DPI 1ms-response gaming mouse.
-
Orochi is not so great concerning the sleep-freeze issue, especially when you're planning to use it mainly on bluetooth
For the price of Orochi (or less) there are a lot of better bluetooth mice from Microsoft, Dell or Logitech -
mx518 for everyday stuff
-
It looks great based on reviews, but I like claw grip mice (with my palm touching but not resting on the mouse) more. I like the vx nano and the mx version of it, but my hands are too big to use them comfortably.
I think I'll stay away from purely Bluetooth mice after reading up on responsiveness and battery life.
Thanks for the recommendations/comments! -
For bigger hand check out Logitech Marathon mouse/M705
it's basically a successor of VX Revolution mouse. claimed 3 years of battery life

Is there such a thing as a mouse for light gaming? I use my $7 Logitech mouse for everything from gaming to surfing. That is, when I'm not too lazy to get it out. I never understood gaming mice, a mouse is a mouse. As long as its not to big or small, it should be good for everything.
-
The difference between gaming mice and "normal" mice mainly comes down to DPI and response time. Your average mouse will have 8ms response and 800 DPI or so. Pretty much any gaming mouse these days will have 1ms response and at least 2,000 DPI.
-
A gaming mouse ia generally a mouse for FPS's where the response time makes a difference (I can't play cod for example withiut a good mouse).
IMO a gaming mouse would not bring much benefit in an RTS or an RPG where a standard mouse would be sufficient.
OP: I also recommend the Orochi or try Roccat Pyra ROCCAT STUDIOS V3.0 - PRODUCTS » Gaming Mice » ROCCAT Pyra Wireless it's also a good mouse but i don't know if it's available in the US. -

I receieved my orochi couple days ago and i use it on bluetooth mostly( even in games ). The sleep-freeze isn't issue for me.
-
Can you describe how you hold it and take pictures of it so I can see it's size?
-
good for you
that's definitely not for me. not in this modern age
-
Thumbnail: no, picture: yes. Thanks!
I think I'll get this once I recieve my bill for the Envy and the ~$600 BCB. -
No freezing in games? Lucky you. Have you used more ergonomic palm grips mouse before? Because i went from a huge gaming mouse to this tiny orochi and i can only say its horrible.
-
I was going to recommended the Anywhere Mouse from Logitech because I've upgraded from the VX Nano to that. But if it's too small, try the VX Revolution.
The V470 will be about the same size as the VX Nano in my opinion. The V470 will be a bit heavier as well because it uses AA batteries as opposed to the AAA batteries with the VX Nano.
Check out these pics to get an idea.

VX Revolution - 2.5 x 4 x 1.61

Good luck hunting! -
you don't experience sleep-freeze OR you get used to it?
well OP if you wanna get it then good luck
-
Nop i haven't used huge mouse. Before orochi i had mouse what was 2x smaller than orochi
I get the sleep-freeze about once a day ( maybe i don't notice it anymore ) but when i play games, then i always move mouse because theres always some hardcore action going on
.
-
yes, but I assume you don't game 24/7 right
for me who always use wireless mouse 12-18 hours /day, sleep-freeze sucks period
Edit: if the sleep timeout is long enough it won't be an issue, but 2-3 seconds? gimme a break -
I seriously think you have a dud mouse, crayonyes. I timed mine, and it takes 10 full seconds from the moment I let it go to enter idle mode. In games it's hardly an issue, as I personally never let my mouse go for that long in a game, and outside of games, it's really not a big deal if I have to wait an extra half-second to get the mouse moving.
That said, I generally game in wired mode, simply because you can't get the 1ms response and 4,000 DPI while in Bluetooth mode. -
No mastershroom, seriously, a lot of people have 2-3 seconds sleep timeout.
As a matter of fact, you are the only case I heard of 10 seconds sleep timeout.
And for daily wireless mouse, freezes everytime I got back to the mouse is just sucks.
I have used VX nano, Orochi and AnywhereMX, all are wireless.
And I can say, the sleep-freeze on Orochi is bad for productivity. -
a bad taste in my mouth comes up when i get reminded of the orochi... And i dont get why razer hasnt made a driver update to extend the sleep mode and prevent the mouse from freezing in games using the bluetooth mode.
-
in my case... so I can look for better mouse, and that's what I did. Thanks razer. LOL
-
i would go with the orochi, or any other mobile mouse
-
Really? The sleep issue doesn't bug you? I just can't stand that jolt when it comes back alive from sleep mode....especially when it happens so often.
I take my hand off it to write 5 words and it's already in sleep mode...ahhh!!!!
-
Thanks!
I really like the nano, I just can't use it comfortably for an extended period of time. (I got it at least two years back... It's been well used) -
it bugged me at first but you'll get use to it, when im at my desk gaming i have it wired, when im on the bed or just surfing i use bt
-
I wish my life is just gaming and surfing like you. lol
-
My orochi goes to sleep within 3 seconds of inactivity. I leave the cable plugged in my docking station at work and only use it bluetooth in a pinch if im not there. It's situational though since I can just easily use the touchpad or stick. If I got 10 or more seconds, it would be a great mouse.
-
i wish it was just gaming and surfing too lol. but i only game like 2 or 3 hrs a day, and maybe 1+ surfing, in the military, trying to use the little time i have lol xD
-
I just managed to find someone on campus with the Pyra
too small for my hands though (about the same as the vx nano). Now the Kone looks enticing... except for the price tag (especially with international shipping).
Wireless has quickly shot down to a low priority after actually reading up on mice and what peope have posted. -
believe me, wireless is fine.
Only a few products you should avoid in terms of wireless. -
I know. My favorite but now uncomfortable mouse is wireless.
It's just not a high-priority feature anymore, seeing the nice portable-but-wired roccat, logitech and razer mice. -
so which mice are you looking at now?
for wireless I recommend Marathon or G700
for wired, Deathadder and MX518 are forum's favorite ,cmiiw. -
In no particular order: Logitech Marathon M705, Logitech MX 518, Razer Orochi, Cyborg (Mad Catz) R.A.T 5, ROCCAT Kone. I haven't looked into the deathadder yet, but I think I'll add that to the list too.
(I held a G700 in best buy- I didn't like the texture/feel) -
If VX Nano is too small for you, I think Orochi is too small too.
Other mice you mentioned have bigger size.
How does G700 feel like ? I'm going to get it once it's available in my place -
Engadget describes it well.
-
oh well I guess some will love it some will hate it,

The Gigabyte M7700 I bought for $5 (!) on newegg with a coupon and rebate was well worth it. I thought it was buggy when I set the micro cd with its drivers down on the edge of my massive touchpad... it kept activating middle-click.
This'll be fine until I get my $600 from Microsoft and actually have some money to spend on a great mouse.
My list seems to be: Logitech Marathon M705, Logitech MX 518, Razer Orochi, Cyborg (Mad Catz) R.A.T 5
Any more mice you guys suggest?
