Okay, right now I use a Logitech G7. Has been a great mouse but my right button is starting to die and only works when it wants to or if I press really hard. The bluetooth mouse I got to replace it does not play well with Vista. when either the mouse or M17x goes into sleep mode, it doesn't want to reconnect and I have to remove and then re-add it. So my plan to get rid of the usb dongle didn't work out like I had hoped.

I am trying to decide between the Razer Lachesis, DeathAdder, or maybe the Mamba. I've searched on here and around, but not really found much info like I was hoping. The Mamba is way more then I would like to spend on a mouse though so I'd like to hear some feedback from Lachesis and DeathAdder owners. I've heard nothing but great things about the DeathAdder, but info on the Lachesis seems limited. So use to wireless that going wired might be weird, so that where the Mamba comes into play.

Or if you have something else along the size specs of these three and love it, let me know. I'm looking for something in this size range that will hopefully last a bit longer then this G7 did. But I have my WoW addiction to blame for killing the right button.

Is the G7 still by chance under warranty? Logitech is pretty good and don't mind sending something equivalent or better.

My DeathAdder is the greatest mouse I have ever used. I used to own a Logitech G9 before this.

It is easily the most comfortable and natural-feeling mouse I've ever used. I know it sounds trite, but it really does feel like a natural extension of my own hand. It's perfect for gaming, and perfect for regular work use as well. The 1800 DPI optical sensor tracks on anything I throw at it (although I have not tried clear glass yet) without skipping or stopping. The clicks are very responsive, and button placement couldn't be better.

I like the DeathAdder much more than the Lachesis, which my friend owns and which I have used plenty of times. For starters, the Lachesis is an ambidextrous design, which doesn't really fit either hand very naturally. It comes with 9 buttons compared to the DeathAdder's 5, but two of these will be on the side of the mouse that your pinkie is on, and thus very awkward to push. I would never be able to use these two buttons effectively. They're basically mirrors of the thumb buttons for whichever hand you're using.

The Lachesis has a 4,000 DPI laser sensor compared to the DeathAdder's 1,800 DPI optical. If you like faster motion with less movement of the mouse, then higher DPI is great. Personally, I prefer the opposite; I like to move the mouse more and have very controlled accurate cursor movements. Of course, this is personal preference.

I also primarily use a palm-style grip on my mouse, and going from the shape of your old G7, I assume you do as well. The Lachesis is more suited to a claw-style grip.

For the record, the Mamba is physically the same shape as the DeathAdder, only it's wireless, has more buttons, and has a 5,600 DPI laser sensor...and an exponentially larger price tag. :p

So, to sum it up, I like the DeathAdder because it has a more ergonomic shape if you're right handed, and 5 buttons is perfect for me. The 1,800 DPI optical sensor is great for players like me who like to move the mouse more and have more controlled motion.

Proponents of the Lachesis prefer its ambidextrous design (especially if they're left-handed :p), and it offers a bit more advantage to claw-grip users. They also prefer the high sensitivity and speed offered by 4,000 DPI.

In short, if you liked your G7, I think you will like the DeathAdder because it is more similar to that style of mouse than the Lachesis.

Thanks for the great reply Mastershroom. Sounds like the DeathAdder is what I am after. Its hard to tell what they would feel like from the, what I think are, poor pics on the Razer site.

And I totally agree with ya, I'd much rather have more control over my mouse then hardly having to move it to move the cursor. I'd end up turning the dpi down on the Mamba or Lachesis.

Glad to be of assistance. :)

Go to your local Best Buy; they often have some Razer mice on display for you to touch and feel. I have two Best Buy stores in my area; one had the Mamba and Lachesis on display, the other had the DeathAdder and Mamba.

    Yep. Check out BestBuy.

The BestBuy here has the Mamba, DeathAdder and Lachesis in stock. They also have the Razer Lycosa there. Atleast then you could see it in person (albeit through plastic :D).

I will have to do that this weekend. Did not figure anywhere like BestBuy would carry Razers in stock. Might just come home with a nice new mouse. :D

I see you're from Ohio as well. Hopefully the Best Buys in your area follow suit with all the ones I've been to.

Just checked the site actually. Both Mansfield and Polaris have em, now to just pick a store since I'm about equal distance from both. Last time I went to Mansfield though the radio outta my Jeep got stolen, so I've not been back with Polaris being so close now.

EDIT: While looking up prices and where I could maybe go buy one I came across a white version claiming to be the Mac version. Any thoughts on if this would work fine for Windows, just maybe have to download the Windows equivalent program from their site maybe?

Mac version is the same thing. Drivers are found on Razer so go ahead and install the windows version.

Don't get mamba - wireless usually sucks, plus it has a battery inside weighing the mouse down.
Lachesis is some sort of alien mouse. Most people i know that have it hate it.

My recommendations for a 5 button mice are:
    deathadder
    mx518
    intellimouse explorer 3.0

I consider myself a self proclaimed mouse expert. =)

Polaris, cool. I've been there plenty of times, although usually for Quaker Steak wings. :p

The Mac edition is the same mouse with white lights. There is also an oranga-lit Guild Wars edition.
The Mamba's wireless has less lag than most non-gaming wired mice.

Quaker Steak is awesome, was there last weekend.

I heard of the orange one, not this white one though. And that would go great with my Lunar Silver M17x. Might just order it off Amazon since its only 45 bucks.
