I've had trouble with logitech mice side scroll not working or zoom in not working and problems with set point.

What is a safe bet to buy in terms of wireless mice with programmable keys?

That won't need to be charged constantly? Bluetooth would be a bonus.

I've shopped for mice myself but am hesitant to buy because of my past problems and not knowing why I couldn't get certain buttons/features to work before on logitech mice.

I will use the mouse on a windows 7 professional computer.

If you've been having problems with Logitech, you could ask them for a RMA. What they usually do is give you another mouse of the same model (and let you keep the original).

You could look into Razer's mice as well.

I have 4 Logitech mice and none of them have the problem you speak of. 2 are gaming mice, 2 are normal (1 wired, 1 wireless).

You should try reinstalling SetPoint to see if that helps, otherwise like recommended above contact Logitech support for RMA. Most of the time those problems are software related, otherwise that button wouldn't be working at all. Take for instance side scrolling, it doesn't work for me in Chrome all the time, but it does with IE and Firefox (Performance MX).

I'd definitely consider reinstalling the SetPoint software for the mouse (forgot about that).

Personally, I've never had any issues with my Logitech mice (G9x, M505).
