Hey lovely folk of NBR, I am torn between two mice:
The R.A.T. 7/9 are serious lookers. The Frankenmice of today with customisable sizes and with a whole host of features such as a handy thumb scroller.
The Roccat Kova Plus[+] seems a mighty fine fit for the M15x with the customisable colours that are also present on alienfx.
Couple things to note. I am a light gamer. I have little interest in the dpi as long as itis decent. I am affected by response time so I don't use cheap wireless or bluetooth mice but I am fine with cheap wired mice but would like an upgrade. I occasionally play games but they have to be at the highest settings, that's why I overclock mindlessly beyond what some people deem safe. I like people to be stunned at what I use, therefore the choosing of a Alienware over a Clevo. But most of all, I love things to match. My alienfx theme is an ambilight approximation of my desktop wallpaper. I am looking for an Alienware Orion backpack for cheap and the only cooler that I would contemplate buying is the Cooler Master SF-19 Storm.
Now these two mice both match the M15x, albeit in different ways so what I need is some points to guide me.
Thanks!

From what I hear, the Roccat Kone [+] is by far one of the best gaming mice on the market today. I certainly liked my original Roccat Kone (I switched it out because I needed something wireless). The lighting system is one of the most elaborate on any mouse so you should be able to get it fairly close to your AlienFX
And it's fairly inexpensive compared to the 'top end' gaming mice like the R.A.T. 9.

I recommend the Razer DeathAdder. It's a straight up no-nonsense 3,500 DPI optical 1,000Hz polling/1ms response gaming mouse, available for both left- and right-handed users. You can grab it for $45 from Amazon.

You might want to look into the Alienware Tactx. I mean, it is from the same brand and has color changing lights. I couldn't imagine a mouse that matches better.

got a rat7 been awesome, but thinking about a roccat kova+, the lighting looks awesome on it.

Get a mouse based on your hand size, not its pretty looks. There's nothing worse than gaming with a mouse that's far too small for your hands. I suggest the G9X (it even has a red logo/changeable lights), however I've had my eye on the RAT for quite some time now
Just remember, a mouse that doesn't make your palm bulge up in the air is medically better as per the UK medical journal.

I own a R.A.T.7. I got it because every review I have read from major publications seem to indicate that it is the best mouse they have ever used.
And I will say that the customizable ergonomics, and the DPI-dropping "sniper" button on the side are very awesome.
However, the mousing motion didn't feel very skip-free to me. I could not use it reliably on a bare laminated desk surface - I had to use a cloth mousepad with it. Turns out, that the imaging sensor they use in it is sub-par, and is known to be less accurate than the sensors they use in other high-end mice like the Logitech G500 / G700 / G9x line of mice.
So, if you value mouse comfort, and already have a good mousing surface / environment, then the R.A.T. 7 is a solid choice. But if you're looking for a mouse that is less picky about the surfaces / environments in which you use it, I would go with something else. -
Had used Orochi,Mamba,Rat7 & G700,can say finally found that G700 is the most suitable.Looks-wise,i would say its secondary compared to its 2 most important functions, comfort & control.I focus my eyes on the screen most of the time anyway,so a mouse design will eventually wear off,my current G700 is pitchblack compared to my previous fancy mice.

I say go with the r.a.t 5 alienware already looks different might as well get a rat instead of a mouse.
edit: do not get the r.a.t 9 it is wireless btw. r.a.t 7 is the wired those are the only difference.
r.a.t 5 vs r.a.t 7 is that the rat 7 comes with the pinky rest and you can add a little bit more weights and higher dpi and can config the way you want the rest to be at i think. -
rat 5 has the slow down sniping feature?

Pretty much the only difference between the R.A.T.5 is that it isn't ergonomically customizable (i.e. no swappable / adjustable palm grip, pinky grip, and thumb rest), and has a lower DPI sensor (4000dpi vs 5700dpi).
Given that pretty much the major benefit of the R.A.T.7 is the superb comfort due to the customizability, I'd pass on the R.A.T.5. You still get the same sub-par sensor on the R.A.T.5 as you do on the R.A.T.7. Unless you have some overwhelmign reason to get the R.A.T.5, something like a Logitech G500 will end up being a much better mouse for the money.
