Well I am not only a proud owner of a new ASUS z70va but I also purchased today, as a second laptop to also double as a desk top... a fully souped-up Compaq Presario V2000Z .

So I need a mouse, a keyboard and external speakers and looking for recommendations.

Before anyone screams at me... I did do a search... I think I have read every post on Mice for the last year... people are so divided on them..

I am not even sure if I want wire or wireless... precision is important to me because I have to at times draw complicated graphs were the slightest wrong dip in the curve can throw people off. (I have not done this yet myself on the computer... but I have watched people do it for me and I want to be able to do it myself.)

I was Reading about the sale on the portable speakers but they are already sold out. But I think I would want better than those..at least I suspect so...

I do have a good sound system in my living room... so I don't want something super dooper but I do want something good....

So people tell me your favs and why...

    So do people have suggestions.

EDIT: I think I asked for too much on one thread... so I am going to ask the admins to change the title to just Mouse & Keyboard... I'll do speakers later.

Well, since you have already done YOR, you must have an idea of what suits you best and what budget you want to spend.
I KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) and use a Logitech wired optical mouse - robust and accurate - an A1Pro keyboard (really cheap!) and a Creative 2:1 speaker system that is not HiFi but is certainly better than the laptop speakers in my Acer! ;)
It's all about what you want to spend, yeah?!

you are right it depends on what I want to spend... but it depends on the trade-oiffs... I don't know how much one has to soend befire gettint some thing good.

So for example, from what I read here... the logitec G5 (wired) is $55 and the G7 (wireless) is $65 at Amazon... Iunderstand they are gamer's mice... may I don't need tah t precise as I am not a gamer... but maybe I would appreciate it any way... Are there others people would recommend?

So I also see the MX 1000 $43 which some reviewers say is great but the G7 is a more recent improvement.

And there seems to be a difference between Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse 931175-0403 and the Logitech MX1000 Laser Cordless Mouse

This is all very confusing to me....

I'd check out the Amazon deals on some Logitech stuff. I will have to say though, I like my Creative 2.1 speaker system.

EDIT - Oops, looks like you've already found the deals.

I personally am a fan of logitech :)

The Z2300s looks like an awesome dela, if the MiR pulls off. But you may need a sound card with that.

    As for mice and keyboard...

Does the V2000z have BT? And what is the main purpose of the V2000z? Media? For the mouse, if you want wireless, I'd recommend the mx1000, as the mx700, g5 and mx1000 are Logitech's best mice ever, no tracking issues, nor battery issues. I've owned all 3, and I'm still using the G5 as main, mx700 as backup and my sis has the mx1000 now(She liked that more then the mx700, and I have 3 mice....so she has the choice of picking one heh).

For years I was against cordless mice/keyboard, but I must say that for a laptop, a cordless keyboard/mouse combo that runs off a single USB port is very tempting.

For speakers, 2.0 systems may be preferred to 2.1, again, to save space. Then again, to achieve quality sound with 2.0, each of the speakers must be bigger, because it needs to play as a a part-time subwoofer, so you may not save as much. I guess, If you have space for a subwoofer under your desk, go for 2.1. Otherwise go for 2.0.

As a gamer, I wouldn't touch a wireless keyboard or mouse. If you are doing stuff that you want guranteed accuracy with, I say corded is the way to go.

I have an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, and speakers hooked up to my notebook when I'm home:
    - NEC 1770GX
    -Dell Quietkey USB keyboard
    -Razer Diamondback
    -Logitech Z-2300 speakers

Of course, it's a gaming oriented setup . . . keyboard not really but it gets the job done. I love the Dell Quietkeys - excellent feedback.

You might want to look at a Microsoft IntelliMouse - very comfortable, or as a matter of fact, for something more accurate, the Razer Copperhead. Very good - check it out in person at Best Buy.

i definitely must say that Microsoft Mice are the most comfortable, the ergonomics are great on my Microsoft Wireless laser mouse 6000.
