I'm looking for a mousepad next to my notebook. I use either MX518 or MX1000 mouse. The mousepad must be hard (no cloth pads) and not too big. I have two or three choices and I was hoping you could help me out. Which would be better: Steelpad S&S (or 4D) or X-RAY Thunder 8. Right now, Thunder 8 seems the better mousepad but so many people have bought the S&S so I'm not sure what to buy. Help me!

I agree with Luck. Why do you need a mousepad unless you're worried about wearing out the little stoppers on the bottom of the mouse. Especially if you have a MX1000 which has the extremely precise laser engine. I haven't seen anyone use a mousepad recently unless they have a ball mouse.

I knew this was the answer I was bound to get [ :D] Well of course I can admit that these +10-dollar mousepads are kinda vanity accesories but one thing is for sure: a good mousepad is always better than the surface of your desk. It's another thing whether it justifies the price because mousepads don't make miracles when it comes to accuracy. BTW, I don't know anyone who does not use a mousepad though the ones I do know use cheap mousepads and not these 20- or 30-dollar pads that I want to buy.

Anyway, I want a mousepad... period. Which one of these two?

    LuckMC11,
I too use a mouse pad still, even though I have an optical mouse. It just feels right I guess
