I have an Asus laptop which is a little over a year old. Up until a week ago my battery worked fine (ran for approx. 2 hrs) and I did use it quite a lot. But then it just died, it didn’t gradually decrease in power, it won’t work at all. I’ve checked the power supply and it said the battery’s at 0% and charging. Does anyone have any suggest of what might have happened?

Your battery could just be worn out from too much usage. Check ebay to see if you can find a new battery, or get one from Asus.

the first battery in my old thinkpad did that - I never used the battery much , and one day I was using the computer (plugged in), left for an hour or so, and when I came back the battery was completely dead.

A sudden drop in battery capacity is cause for alarm. Going from 2 hours to zero in a week suggests some sort of catastrophic failure...

Have you physically inspected the battery for swelling or warping due to overheating? Have you checked your battery contacts for a buildup of dirt or other contaminants?

my inspiron 8100 battery has dies out as well. When I bought my laptop around 6 years ago, I use to get around 2 hours of battery life, but now, I only get around 30 mins. I now use my laptop as a desktop repleacement on my desk at home.
