My D630 comes with a smart card reader, but I am not sure what to do with it?

I know a smart card reader has something to do with securing your laptop's data, but I do not know how to use it? Will I ever find a use for it or is it going to collect dust?

There's a software that came with the D630 that is related to the smart card reader, maybe you check it out what it can do. Maybe you can configure it to set a password for a smart card, which then you can purchase from SanDisk, and use it? I'm not sure myself, but I've it too on my D620. Never use it though.
