    Hey all!

Well, my teeny Creative Muvo 1GB MP3 player is *officially DOA* on me. It actually *supposedly* died several weeks back, but came back to life for a bit!

So, now I need to invest in a new one (in August I rec'd some birthday $$ for a new one) :)

What I want is something small, sturdy, reliable, and *stylish*. Oh, and *ease of use*!!! I also cannot spend above $140 :)

The 1GB holds plenty of music for me..but I'm thinking that now I need more than 1GB! :) I also need to have the arm-strap capability! :)

I am *clutzy* sometimes, so I need it to have the ability to hold up for me when at the gym, running, walking, and especially when out *biking* either on/off road! ;)

I have been perusing these 3, and wanted to know your feelings on them:

Sony 4 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Pink)
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0013B88FO/ref=noref?ie=UTF8&s=audio-video

    Or this:

Sony 4 GB Walkman Video MP3 Player (Red)
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=436516101&pf_rd_i=507846

    and this:
SanDisk Sansa Clip 2 GB MP3 Player (Red) ~I couldn't find it in 4GB
    http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Sansa...4?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1223341523&sr=1-4

Any comments or suggestions are very much appreciated!!! ;)

    Thx!

    Cin ;) :)

The Sonys have excellent sound quality, and one of the few MP3 players that actually comes with decent earphones. I think the only portable media player that has better sound quality than the Sony NWZ's is the Cowon D2, but it's a close call.

Samsung S3 is stylish and well-priced... I haven't tried it though.

The Sony ones are all good IMO.

The thing with Cowon D2 is it's kind of thick, and, last I checked, kind of pricey. If you can get past that... people who have them seem to love them.

Thanks for the linky! That Samsung is nice looking...looks like it does alot also! :) I may have to make a trip to BB to check it!

I still like those Sony's though! I still have to check the Cowon.

I noticed theres no Bluetooth on the Samsung! But then, again I've never used B.tooh with a MP3 player, so is it a necessity?? ;)

    thx.

Do any of the ones you're looking at have Bluetooth? Is there even anything in your price range with Bluetooth built in?

The Cowon D2 is 200$ for the 16GB version(the 4GB version is 140$, but remember, its SDHC expandable). You can't get the 4gb clip in any color other than silver. Sony's have really good sound quality, along with Cowon's I personally prefer Cowon, but I can live with a sony for sure. The clip also has great sound quality, so long as you leave the EQ flat. About the only thing that bluetooth is useful on an mp3 player is headphones, and IMO bluetooth doesn't have enough bandwidth to transmit good sound. I have the clip, and I've spiked it a few time(I got mad) and I also go some of them for my younger siblings, and yes, they hold up very well. With the clip they can clip on to many different places, so if you have an arm band, you can just clip it onto that. Over all though, my favorite mp3 player on the market would definately have to be the Cowon D2, its just a well rounded player with many features and its packed into a pretty small size.

I have one of the Sansa Clips, has good sound and its great for traveling, very small and lightweight plus not too expensive if you lose it on a trip.

Cin' - if you're looking at Cowons, you could also consider their iAudio 7. It's very small, at the expense of having a very small screen - but unless you're watching videos it's not an issue. They have roughly 40 hours of battery life, and are available in 4, 8, and 16 gb. I have a 16 GB version and am very happy. I'm not sure how its sound quality measures up to the Cowon D2 but Cowon is generally known for good audio and their players support lots of better audio file types (notably OGG and FLAC) if sound quality is something you're concerned about. There is an armband available - you can't find Cowons in regular stores, but you can get them from Amazon or from jetmall.net.

Hope that helps, and good luck.

PS - DOA means Dead On Arrival, not 'I used it for a long time and it died.' :p

You should be getting more than 40 hours out of it, its rated for 60, but they usually get less than the ratings(I've had players that got better). The D2 is rated for 55 hours and it gets more than 40 of actual play time. You should be looking closer to the 50-55 area on the Iaudio 7. And I have both the I7 and the D2 they're both good build quality, like you stated.

Ha ha. Fine, fine. I've never run out of battery on it except when it had gone for weeks without adding anything new to it from my computer and was down to no bars and then I forgot to turn it off while I was at work all day. I pulled 40 hours out of nowhere because I remembered that the battery life was so good that the real number didn't even matter.

I have to throw a vote out for the 4Gb Zune at $129. Decent amount of space, good software, FM tuner, and wifi syncing make a pretty good package.

+1 for the Zune. Pay a little extra for the new 2G Zune "mini", it's worth it over the 1G.

The new iPod Nano is really nice, too. I'm usually not a huge fan of iPods, but this has to be the best one that Apple released.

This is also a really good video to watch comparing them:

I was going to mention the Zune and saw the last two posters already did. Although I don't own a Zune I've had my eye on them for a while. Lots of great features and supposedly very good audio and quality earphones. When I get bored of my 1GB Shuffle, 20GB U2 iPod, & 160GB Classic I'm getting me a Zune! :)
