What do you guys use between your notebook and your lap. I find that it gets really hot when the notebook blows from below.

If you've got the space for it, a lap desk like the Levenger Lap Desk works really well. There's enough room for a mouse on one side and a huge textbook on the other--turns your armchair, couch or bed into a Winston-Churchill-worthy work station.

If you've got less space, you might try a little tray like this one. Even a big hardcover book (like a calculus or chemistry text) will work in a pinch. I find if I can get the notebook computer up on a hard space it cools itself better, and the material of the tray is enough to keep me from feeling toasted--but my machine runs fairly cool for the kind of work I do with it sitting on my lap...

This is what i use: http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=PA243U

It really isn't that bad. I would probably use it more if I didn't have a 17in laptop or if I wasn't always laying in bed. You can buy similar products at almost every computer store and even Wal-mart carries these.

how hot does it run? My thinkpad can be used on my lap even when it's running around 50* C. And my bluetooth MX1000 works on pretty much every surface I have tried.
