After testing multiple speaker systems, I am making this post. This is an opinion, although its a very indepth one, taken from studying these speaker systems for quite a while.

Creative SBS 240: Not too good looking. Not something you'd want to show off near... anyone.

As for sound, sounds very good for not having a dedicated ampilfier. Somewhat clear, precise, and with a hint of bass.

No real bass on the thing, but what do you expect for $10 speakers?

A good pair of speakers for the office. C

Creative Travelsound: I must start by saying the speakers look very nice. The brushed aluminum and tiny form really fit their style. They can be used anywhere.

Very clear for tiny speakers. Can be played outside of a shower at not so loud volumes and voices can be understood.

No bass. Pretty much AT ALL. It's got 2w bass. Adding bass manually with a mp3 player to play outloud causes it to either stop working until you turn it off and back on (??) or it eats the battery, unless you have it plugged in.

All in all, a very good choice for traveling. Probably the best. B-

Creative Inspire T2900: Very very ugly speakers. Looks like a 90's speaker, but the design is much more dull and ugly.

However, the speakers are very, very clear. For a value speaker, things are very sharp and vibrant, and adding a sound card makes it sound excellent.

...When their is no bass. Add any bass AT ALL and you get huge sound distortion. Not really a speaker you want to buy if you listen to alot of rap or metal.

A decent pair of speakers, but you could do alot better. C

Creative Itrigue 3400: Small and beautiful, these babies will impress everyone who comes over to your pc. The brushed aluminum and fantastic shape will take everyones breath away.

... Until you play the thing, that is. Sounds are distant, no midrange support, adding midrange support makes it sound high and unnatural.

Adding too much bass distorts it too.

A beauty to behold, but so is exotic food. Then it digests and becomes crap. This was crap from the start. D-

Creative Itrigue L3800: The motherlode. Not too big, beautiful, and clear. These babies look lovely. They will impress anyone who sees them, just like Itrigue 3400's.

...But unlike the Itrigue 3400's, they aren't a huge stinking pile of manure. In fact, they are WONDERFUL. Crystal clear, to the point of shocking when adding a sound card.

Trebile is a bit too high from the start, needs adjusting.

Sounds alot better in movies, music, and tv then the Z2300's. Z2300's sound a bit fuller in games though, while being not as clear, but are a tad better for certain games.

Bass is it's only real problem. Add too much and it's not so clear. These aren't made for really heavy stuff, but it sounds nice on just about everything.

A great speaker for anyone. Only thing that keeps it down is the bass. A-

Logitech X-230: Ah, the best budget speaker on the market. What looks like garbage can turn out to sound great, and this fits the bill.

As for clarity, not too clear unless you get a sound card. But for $30, it's the clearest sounding speaker on the market. So not much you can work with...

Bass is great. For a tiny speaker bass is excellent for one.

A great speaker for the budget minded. B-

Logitech Z-2300: The best Logitech 2.1 system currently. How does it compare to the others?

Although the X-230's looked like crap, these look good. Not as good as the Itrigue's, but pretty good. it won't wow your friends, but it will definately fit with your system.

Amp is way too big, hauling that thing will give anyone except Arnold a backache.

Sounds are a bit iffy... It sounds more full in certain games then the Itrigue L3800's, but in music, movies, tv, it sounds distant... Even with a video card. That's with the bass down. Turn it up, and you get alot of bass, but the clarity goes way down.

Bass on the thing is magnificent. Huge, thomping bass, ehough to fill any room you want. And make your neighbors throw things at you.

The thing is perfect for rap and metal, and games with soundtracks like that, but anything else, and I suggest the Itrigue L3800's. Don't even think about taking it past your room. B

Well, that's it, all the speakers I own. If you want to leave comments, post them. I took a bit of time to make this.

What music do you listen to or used to test and what are your personal preferences towards a favoured "sound"? By that I mean amount of bass, prominence of mids and how much detail you like and so on and so forth

    :)

I have over 200 cds. I tried each one with bass up, bass down, eq adjusted (the correct way is to always get rid of stuff, not add to).

I prefer full sound and clarity. Good bass, but not room thumping bass.

Nice, very informative. Although I find the X-230 to be pretty good looking :)

I have the Creative Itrigue L3800 and you are absolutely right. They are great but the bass could be better. Their black and aluminum color scheme goes perfect with my dv6000 and the wireless remote and the ability to control my creative zen microphoto are nice extras. But the best part is I got them for only $50 at circuitcity (after mail-in rebate, of course).

Zellio, how much better do they sound with a sound card. Is it worth buying a sound card for around $100, I was thinking of buying the Creative X-Fi ExpressCard(when it comes out) but wasn't sure if its worth it.

Oh yeah, way better. They sound perfect with a sound card.

Bass is alot better, esp. with a creative sound card.

    Get one.

My Logitech Z5500 trumps all, literally.
