tbh that doesnt look very stable. it looks like one small push can push the laptop off the bottle caps. maybe add some rubber padding on the top to prevent slipping?

Or the bottom side of the bottle caps would be better... cause I think it won't be able to be pushed off... But it can fall by a pull or push from the bottom section.

The laptop itself has rubber, so it prevents the it from sliding off the bottlecaps, and the bottlecaps have the thing on the bottom that prevents sliding.

What if... something like you knock the bottlecaps off.. I think that having 1 or 2 cap(s) in one stack is better than 3 in a stack.

this whole thing is a pretty big risk. you are risking dmging your notebook just to save 20-30 bucks. i hope you are really careful.

I don't like coolers anymore, I try to not use mine at all... My temperature is 70 degrees celsius idle, 80 degrees celsius on max... It's not even that hot, so yeah... It's your choice... You could go get some Artic Silver 5 for like... $5-10 and you can lose 3-7 degrees. My cooler loses like 0 degrees... Just my thoughts, sorry if I changed your opinions or anything.

+1 next time use better materials, 2 earasers glued are far more stable then that or even just a thick wallet

Delete thread please? lol. One question though, what cooler should i buy for my dv5t? Are the zalman nc1000/2000 sold in retail, like best buy? Zalman nc1000 or nc2000? The only experience i have with a cooler is the targus chillmat (which i heard sucks), sucks in the air and blows it out of its vents. I see how this works, so how do other fans work when they blow against your system? The targus chillmat was pretty small and my laptop overlapped all over, but the laptop was stable and looked fine since it just covered the chillmat. The chillmat kept my laptop noticeably cooler through touch, don't know about actual temps inside.

Take a look at the notebook cooler buyers guide. Also if you look in one of the further rear (second last page) it shows the DV5 fits very nicely on a NC2000
