It's possible you have not entered the correct encryption keys. One of the quickest ways to verify if it's the key, is to disable security completely and see if it connects. If it does, then just make sure you enter the correct keys for your notebook and it should connect.
Another source on configuring your rounter/a wireless network, is on the router manufacturers site. They usually have an FAQ section or a users guide that will tell you exactly how to set it up.
Good luck!

This is too obvious perhaps, but your internet connection could be down. That wouldn't prevent you from connecting to the router. Do other devices/machines have similar issues?

If you drop out to the command prompt and ping a site, this will give you an idea if the network you use is down. If you're getting responses back, I would next check the settings on the router and network card. To Venombites point, make sure one device isn't setup to use encryption but the other is. Also check your SSID and make sure it matches in the config of your router and your card. If all of that is kosher, I'd start checking the network config just to make sure all of the settings are correct (DNS, gateway, IP, etc.).
I've had this problem a few times but for different reasons:
1. On one machine, I forgot to remove the proxy address for my office
2. On another, the SSID on my router was different from what was set for the access card.
If you use your machine on multiple networks or at multiple locations, one thing I've found that helps is to setup an alternate configuration in Windows. For my office machine, the default is to use DHCP but the alternate config is setup for my home network. This way, I rarely have to worry about changing the settings as I change locations. -
Well I worked throught all the WEP and finally it is working. Now it seems that I keep having to "reconnect to available networks" in the middle of things and is not a signal strength problem. Any thoughts on this or is it just Netgear rep.

From the looks of your avatar, you have an HP ZT3000 notebook. The problem may be with your drivers. HP had an issue with a related model (NX7000 w/Intel 2100 Wireless card) where the driver had to be at a minimum revision/version otherwise you will encounter this exact problem. Once the driver was updated, the problem was fixed. This may be the solution, but it also depends on the Wireless card in your system.
