    Hello everyone.

I just bought a G72Gx notebook and alongside with it I bought a Targus Chill Mat at BestBuy: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Targus+...0&skuId=9427042&st=targus chill mat&cp=1&lp=1

Though, I've seen many posts here at NBR saying that the best cooling mat available is the Cryo LX. Now I'm seriously looking to buy it. The problem is that it's too expensive, and I don't feel like it's nice throwing away what I have already bought.

How is the performance difference between both? Will I still be able to overclock the notebook to good levels(P8700 from 2,53 to ~3ghz, GTX260m at least to its true stock values)using the Targus mat without any heating issues?

Thanks in advance for your time.

I have used both and while the cryo lx is made from aluminum, has better fans and has an external source power adapter rather than USB the chill mat has some advantages such as being comfortable using in your lap. The cryo folds about 1/3rd from the bottom for lap use but still isn't comfortable for the purpose because of the weight in moving it around--the chill mat is much lighter.

As far as cooling goes the lx puts out more air but not much more than I remember from the chill mat. The chill mat looks cheap and plasticky while the lx has a quality machined aluminum look.

I was disappointed in the Cryo LX fan speed--you don't really feel that much air from the 5 volt adapter. They say if you buy a 12 volt power adapter the fans run at their rated speed but you have to be careful not to use the USB ports while connected to a 12 volt adapter.

    Nice, thanks for answering.
Speaking about notebook temps, how much do you think each one can reduce in Celsius degrees?

The Cryo reduces my cpu temps about 10c across the board both idle and max. I wasn't monitoring my temps when I had the chill mat but I do remember it making a difference in my hot running DV9000.

    Ok thank you very much.
What do you think about the Enermax Aeolus, is it good enough to beat both cryo and targus?
